    Abstract: A communication method and system for converging a 5th generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of things (IoT) are provided. The communication method and system may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A method, terminal, and base station for performing a random access procedure in a wireless communication system are provided. The terminal method includes, receiving, from a base station, a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message including dedicated configuration information for an RA, identifying whether information on a maximum number for message A (MSGA) transmissions is configured in the dedicated configuration information, and in case that the information on the maximum number is configured in the dedicated configuration information, performing the RA procedure based on the information on the maximum number.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication system and technique that may be applied to intelligent services based on a 5G communication technology and an IoT-related technology. The present disclosure provides a method for data transmission of a terminal in a wireless communication system that includes inputting a packet data convergence protocol packet data unit (PDCP PDU) output from a PDCP entity to a first radio link control (RLC) entity and a second RLC entity. The method also includes inputting a first radio link control packet data unit (RLC PDU) output from the first RLC entity and a second RLC PDU output from the second RLC entity to a medium access control (MAC) entity and transmitting a medium access control packet data unit (MAC PDU) output from the MAC entity through a first physical layer (PHY) entity and a second physical layer entity.

    Abstract: Disclosed are a communication method for merging an IoT technique with a 5G communication system for supporting a data transmission rate higher than that of a 4G system; and a system therefor. The present disclosure can be applied to intelligent services on the basis of a 5G communication technique and IoT-related techniques. The disclosed method relates to processing a resource allocation request of a terminal in a communication system, the method comprising the steps of: triggering a resource allocation request; confirming whether a resource for transmitting the resource allocation request has been allocated to a first subframe of at least two serving cells at the same time; and transmitting the resource allocation request to one serving cell of the at least two serving cells according to a predetermined condition when the resource is allocated to the first subframe of the at least two serving cells at the same time.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for performing communication in a wireless communication system are provided. The method, performed by a user equipment (UE), of performing the communication in the wireless communication system, according to an embodiment, includes identifying an ongoing random access (RA) procedure triggered for a pending scheduling request (SR) transmission, identifying whether an active uplink bandwidth part (UL BWP) or an active downlink bandwidth part (DL BWP) is switched at an initiation of the ongoing RA procedure and performing an operation of switching the active UL BWP or the active DL BWP to an initiation BWP or an operation of terminating the ongoing RA procedure based on a result of the identification.

A method performed by a terminal includes receiving, from a base station, first system information including information indicating that an extended DRX mode is allowed in a cell; transmitting, to an entity for managing mobility of the terminal, a request message including first information on a first DRX cycle for an operation in the extended DRX mode; receiving, from the entity, a response message based on the request message; identifying whether the response message includes second information on a second DRX cycle for the operation in the extended DRX mode; performing the operation in the extended DRX mode based on the second information, when the response message includes the second information; and performing an operation in a regular DRX mode based on third information on a default cycle, when the response message does not include the second information.
