Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and an apparatus for adaptively determining a beam sweeping pattern of a base station in a beamforming-based wireless communication system. An embodiment of the present invention provides an operating method of a serving base station in a wireless communication system, the operating method comprising: receiving, from at least one terminal, beam collision information indicating a collision between beams received from the serving base station and at least one neighboring base station adjacent to the serving base station; and adjusting a beam sweeping pattern of a beam transmitted to the at least one terminal on the basis of the received beam collision information. Various other embodiments of the present invention are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). An apparatus and a method for searching neighboring cells in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes receiving, from adjacent base stations, a part of a first set of reference signals that are beamformed using different transmission beams arranged in a first order, the part of the first set of the reference signals being received during a first measurement interval in a first time interval, and receiving, from the adjacent base stations, a part of a second set of the reference signals that are beamformed using different transmission beams arranged in a second order, which is different from the first order, the part of the second set of the reference signals being received during a second measurement interval in a second time interval.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for operating an analog beam is provided. The apparatus includes a hybrid beam-forming structure having a small number of digital chains provided in a digital stage and a signal is transmitted and received in a Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) scheme. The apparatus includes an analog beam-forming operating unit configured to change the analog beam for a counterpart device for which use of a next frame is to be permitted, upon receiving a request for using the next frame from at least one of multiple devices that transmit and receive signals in units of frames and a communication unit configured to transmit information indicating that the analog beam is changed to permit the use of the next frame by the counterpart device to the multiple devices.
Abstract:
A signal reception apparatus in a communication system supporting a beam forming scheme is provided. The signal reception apparatus includes a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) configured to generate a second signal by amplifying a first signal according to a first gain value, a Variable Gain Amplifier (VGA) configured to generate a third signal by amplifying the second signal according to a second gain value, and an Automatic Gain Controller (AGC) configured to control the first gain value and the second gain value by considering a plurality of beam types supported in a signal transmission apparatus.
Abstract:
A method for operating a base station in a wireless communication system in order to support a plurality of propagation characteristics is provided. The method includes allocating resource periods for respective propagation characteristics, transmitting system information including information on the propagation characteristics, transmitting a reference signal with the propagation characteristic corresponding to the relevant resource period through at least one of the resource periods, and receiving feedback information determining channel qualities for all of the propagation characteristics.
