摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a first image forming unit for forming a first image on a first image carrier, a second image forming unit for forming a second image on a second image carrier, a conveyor belt confronting the first and second image carriers for conveying an image receiving medium to the first and second image carriers successively. The apparatus further includes a first transfer roller for transferring the first image from the first image carrier to the image receiving medium, the first transfer roller being located at a first distance from a first transfer position of the first image carrier along a conveying direction of the image receiving medium, and a second transfer roller for transferring the second image from the second image carrier to the image receiving medium, the second transfer roller being located at a second distance from a second transfer position of the second image carrier shorter than the first distance along the conveying direction of the image receiving medium. A common transfer bias voltage is applied to the first and second transfer rollers to form first and second electric fields at the first and second transfer positions, respectively.

摘要： The present invention relates to a flaw detector for metal material for maintaining and managing pipelines using a remote field eddy current sensor. An AC signal having a constant level and shifted by predetermined phase angle is added to signals received in receiving coils of the remote field eddy current sensor to obtain accurate phase detection in a normal, nonflawed portion of the pipeline to be tested (e.g. uniform thickness, no holes, etc.). By preventing generation of abnormal flaw data, precise diagnosis of the pipeline can be performed. An AGC circuit may be used to maintain at a constant level of received signal. Two sets of spaced apart receiving coils are spaced from an exciting coil a distance greater than a predetermined distance (about two time the pipeline diameter). The set of receiving coils closest to the exciting coil has a greater number of coil turns than the other set. This coil configuration generates sensed coil differential signals having sufficient signal amplitude to permit stabilized and accurate phase detection and comparison for nonflawed and gradually flawed regions in the pipe.

摘要： According to the present invention, a stainless steel thin strip and sheet having a superior surface gloss and high rusting resistance is produced by heating a continuous cast slab of ferritic or martensitic stainless steel containing 10 to 35% by weight of Cr at a temperature of 1100.degree. to 1300.degree. C. selected according to the Cr content in a combustion atmosphere having an oxygen concentration lower than 7% while adjusting the furnace staying time from preheating to extrusion to within 260 minutes, carrying out hot rolling while adjusting the rolling-finish temperature to a level higher than 900.degree. C., carrying out mechanical descaling by adding a grinding and descaling agent, such as iron sand, having a maximum particle size smaller than 400 .mu.m, to high-pressure water and spraying the mixture onto the steel strip, pickling the steel strip, cold-rolling the steel strip while maintaining the relationship between the roll diameter and the reduction ratio within the "overlap"-free region shown in FIG. 3, carrying out finish cold rolling by work rolls having a diameter smaller than 100 mm, if necessary, and subjecting the steel strip to final annealing. Optionally, a winding step may be performed after hot rolling, and/or a final pickling step may be performed after the final annealing.
