    摘要: A powdered laundry detergent composition is provided comprising an active surfactant, at least about 70 wt. % of a water soluble alkaline carbonate salt, e.g., sodium carbonate, about 0.1 to 2 wt. % of a phosphorus-containing sequestering agent, e.g., sodium tripolyphosphate, about 0.1 to 2 wt. % of a polymeric polycarboxylate, e.g., a polyacrylate, and about 1-12 wt. % water.Use of the foregoing detergent composition provides excellent cleaning and whitening of fabrics while avoiding the problem of eutrophication which occurs when a substantial amount of a phosphorus containing builder such as STPP is present in the composition, and while minimizing the problem of fabric encrustation often present when the composition contains a large amount of carbonate builder.

    摘要: Stable aqueous compositions of silane quaternary ammonium compounds are provided by diluting an alkanol solution of the silane quaternary ammonium compound in water with at least one nonionic surfactant. The weight ratio of the silane quaternary ammonium compound and nonionic surfactant is provided to yield a composition which can remain stable in dilute aqueous compositions, can be applied to any surface and dry quickly to provide an anti-microbial film. The addition of an alkali metal bicarbonate salt to the composition improves the anti-microbial properties as well as the drying time of the composition.

    摘要: This invention provides a control release formulation or rumen-bypass dietary supplement in compacted form. The formulation or supplement has the capability to transport fatty acid calcium salt and between about 1-75 percent of one or more rumen-protected undegraded biologically active agents to the post-ruminal digestive system of a ruminant. A feedstock containing the formulation or supplement for ruminants beneficially improves feed efficiency and body growth. The feedstock also is adapted to improve the lactational performance of dairy cattle.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to the enhanced production of ethanol from fermentation using an ethanol producing microorganism. In particular, the present invention provides a process for the enhanced growth and metabolism of an ethanol producing microorganism (e.g., yeast), for the purpose of increasing or enhancing ethanol production, both in terms of total ethanol produced and in terms of the time required for ethanol producing microorganisms to convert carbohydrates and/or sugars to end products (i.e., ethanol). In accordance with this invention bicarbonate ions are used to enhance ethanol fermentation and/or reduce the time required for ethanol producing microorganisms to convert carbohydrates and/or sugars to end products, i.e., ethanol. The present invention can also be used for enhancing fermentation end products in, for example, the fuel ethanol, industrial, cheese, brewing, and wine making industries.

    摘要: A laundry detergent composition, wherein the solids content comprises an active surfactant, at least about 70 wt. % of a water soluble alkaline carbonate, e.g., sodium carbonate, and, a minor amount, for example, about 0.05 to 5 wt. % of a polymeric polycarboxylate, e.g., an acrylic acid polymer, based on the total weight of solids in the composition, the polymeric polycarboxylate being in a form such that its complete release into wash water is delayed to at least about 60 seconds after the complete dissolution of the alkaline carbonate. For example, the polymeric polycarboxylate may be present in slow dissolving granules which also contain a diluent salt such as sodium carbonate and a binder such as a low molecular weight polyethylene glycol. The delayed release of the polymeric polycarboxylate reduces fabric encrustation during washing, i.e., the precipitation of CaCO.sub.3 onto fabric surfaces due to the presence of soluble alkaline carbonate.
