Abstract: Nutritional formulas comprising long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs) are provided, along with methods and devices for preparing and/or administering nutritional formulas. In some embodiments, a percentage of the LC-PUFAs in the nutritional formula are in the form of monoglycerides and/or free fatty acids. In some embodiments, the nutritional formulas do not comprise added lipase. Also provided are methods for providing nutrition to a subject, methods for improving fat absorption, methods for improving cognitive ability, methods for preventing chronic lung disease, and methods for reducing the length of time a patient requires total parenteral nutrition.

Abstract: Compositions of microalgae-derived flour are disclosed from multiple genera, species, and strains of edible microalgae. Microalgae used in the invention are free of algal toxins and contain varying levels of primarily monounsaturated triglyceride oil. Flours disclosed herein are formulated as free flowing blendable powders, mixed food ingredients, oxidation stabilized, homogenized and micronized, and combinations therein. Flours disclosed herein also form self stabilizing emulsions in slurries with manageable viscosities. Innovative methods of formulating flours and incorporating them into food compositions are also disclosed. The invention also comprises flours with significant digestible protein and unique dietary fiber content and associated water binding, texturizing, and healthy oil delivery attributes. Novel methods of oil and fat replacement using flours of the invention are also disclosed. Flours of the invention can be manufactured from edible and inedible heterotrophic fermentation feedstocks, including corn starch, sugar cane, glycerol, and depolymerized cellulose.

Abstract: Methane is a potent greenhouse gas (GHG), with more than 80 times the global warming impact of carbon dioxide during its first 10 to 20 years after release into the earth's atmosphere. This patent presents a unique method for climate action and reduction of GHGs using fruit oils to stabilize and preserve volatile bromoform compounds that are a key ingredient in a livestock feed supplement that reduces enteric methane produced by ruminants. Bromoform compounds are extracted from the red seaweed Asparagopsis using a method comprised of harvesting, water washing, spin drying, and homogenizing the seaweed with a fruit oil including Olive, Coconut or Argan oil in a proportion of biomass to oil of 1.2 to 1.0. This enables effective stabilization of the bromoform and optimal performance as a feed supplement when ingested by ruminants to reduce enteric methane emissions in livestock.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a wet food product for animals can include mixing solid animal feed components with a sauce or sauce components in a temperature-controllable process reactor and sterilising the mixture by heat treatment in the process reactor. The mixing and sterilising can occur at the same time. Embodiments can utilize an apparatus that can include a reactor to receive solid animal feed components and a sauce or sauce components, a temperature control device to control the temperature of the reactor (e.g. at least one wall of the reactor), a mixing device to mix the components located in the reactor (e.g. an agitator within the reactor, etc.), and a control device to control the mixing device to mix the components in the process reactor and to control the temperature control device to sterilise the components or mixture in the reactor.
