摘要: There is disclosed a data processing method for correcting heating data for a thermal head of a thermal printer, to eliminate influence of heat energy accumulated in first to Nth heat accumulating layers of the thermal head. Basic heating data of a subject line is corrected with first to Nth correction data obtained by multiplying first to Nth heat accumulation data by predetermined coefficients respectively. The heating elements are driven in accordance with the corrected heating data, to print the subject line. A drive voltage to be applied across heating elements of the thermal head is determined at the start of printing a frame of image, according to an environmental temperature around the thermal head and a head temperature measured through a thermistor mounted in the Nth heat accumulating layer of the thermal head. The Nth coefficient is calculated according to a formula that includes the head drive voltage as a parameter.

摘要: An apparatus for and a method of detecting a dotted image area in an image. It is judged on the basis of image data corresponding to pixels in a first judging area which includes a predetermined number of pixels including a target pixel whether or not the target pixel is a peculiar point pixel (a peak pixel or a dip pixel). Further, it is judged on the basis of image data corresponding to pixels in a second judging area which is larger than the first judging area whether or not the target pixel is a peculiar point pixel. The dotted image area in the image is detected on the basis of the results of judgment related to the first judging area and the second judging area.

摘要: A pattern data storage stores a plurality of different pattern data having the same data size as bit planes. An image compressing/decoding unit calculates code amounts of the respective encoded bit planes and successively adds the code amounts of the respective bit planes in decreasing order from that of the bit plane of the most significant bit to such an extent that the sum does not exceed a limited code amount. Then, the image compressing/decoding unit selects the bit planes with highest degrees of coincidence by comparing the bit planes other those whose code amounts were added to such an extent that the sum does not exceed the limited code amount and the respective pattern data stored in the pattern data storage and replaces the bit planes by the selected pattern data.

摘要: The invention provides a retardation-controlling optical member that includes a retardation layer obtained by aligning and fixing crosslinkable liquid crystal molecules and columnar structures disposed on the retardation layer. When a liquid crystal cell is formed by use of the retardation-controlling optical member, the columnar structures are effectively inhibited from subsiding in the retardation layer to locally make the cell gap smaller even when pressure is externally applied in a thickness direction of the liquid crystal cell. A sum total of lower bottom areas of columnar structures disposed on a retardation layer is made larger sufficiently compared to a total area of, in particular, an effective display region of a retardation layer surface where the columnar structures are disposed, whereby pressure applied from a thickness direction is dispersed.
