摘要: A search method of a roaming service for registering a mobile station to a network service is provided. The search method comprises the step of searching for a registered public land mobile network (RPLMN) and registering to the RPLMN when the record of the RPLMN is existing and the RPLMN is found and the location registration is necessary. When the record of RPLMN is not existing, or the mobile station can not find an available base station, or the location registration is unsuccessful, or a scan timer expires, the steps of updating an available public land mobile network (PLMN) list and performing a location registration according to the available PLMN list is performed. The step of updating the PLMN list further comprises sorting the available PLMNs according to an order of preferred PLMNs corresponding to a current location of the mobile station, or according to a data transfer speed.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for estimating mobile station location in a wireless communication system. At initiation of a call or a page response, a mobile station of the system sends an access request signal to a primary base station. The primary base station responds with an access acknowledgment which may be intentionally delayed such that the mobile station increases its transmit power level. The primary base station then transmits a channel assignment message to the mobile station. The mobile station responds by transmitting a location signal in the form of a known user-specific traffic preamble at the higher transmit power level. The primary base station intentionally delays sending an acknowledgment of the preamble, such that the mobile station transmits the preamble for a longer period of time than it would otherwise. This additional transmission time allows the preamble to be detected accurately in the primary base station as well as in a number of other surrounding base stations in a manner suitable for generating path delay measurements. A primary location processor associated with the primary base station uses the path delay measurements from the primary and surrounding base stations to generate an estimate of mobile location. The mobile location estimation may be provided during an on-going call by the primary base station sending a fake handoff message to the mobile station directing it to handoff to the same base station and traffic channel but with a different power level and preamble length, or by the primary base station sending a predetermined location probe message directing the mobile station to transmit the traffic preamble with a desired power level and preamble length.

摘要: In a system of communication, a sending node sends a message to a receiving node, which NAKs unsuccessful transmissions. The sending node screens the NAKs to determine if they were sent before the receiver could receive previous transmissions of the same data NAKed. One screening technique is based on an estimated round trip time of a message. Another alternate technique looks a flag in the NAK that synchronizes the sender and the receiver.

摘要: A method to adjust the burst transmission duration time, in a high speed digital wireless communication system, to provide sufficient time for the transmission of data when all the data is not available at the time of transmission. According to the method of the invention, after the burst transmission is begun, the burst is maintained active as additional data is selected within a known time period following the previous detected data packet and the detected data is appended to the active burst transmission. The invention further terminates the burst duration when no additional data is detected within the redefined time period following the previous detected data packet.

摘要: The invention provides a novel burst duration assignment process that increases the performance and improves the throughput of communication systems. In particular, the invention provides an optimal burst duration assignment methodology such that resources are efficiently utilized and maximized in a communication system such as a code division multiple access (CDMA) system. According to the invention, burst duration is assigned based on channel fading fluctuation and user mobility in the communication system. In general, shorter burst duration is assigned to users with higher fading fluctuation and high mobility. Longer burst duration is assigned to users with lower fading fluctuation and low mobility. In a particular embodiment of the invention, the burst assignment is based on a function of duration versus fluctuation.

摘要: A mobile communications system employs extended channel assignment messaging during the call setup portion of a mobile call. As part of the call setup process, a mobile station sends an access request message to a primary base station that includes a list of alternate base stations. As call setup continues, the mobile station employs diversity reception in monitoring the paging channel of three base stations, each selected as a function of the strength of the signal-to-noise ratios of their respective pilot tones.

摘要: The present invention increases the success rate of soft handoffs by enhancing the ability of a mobile-telephone to receive a handoff direction message that identifies the traffic channel being assigned to enable a candidate base station to communicate with the mobile-telephone. Specifically, the aforementioned ability of the mobile-telephone is enhanced by using the candidate base station to transmit the handoff direction message on a communication channel belonging to the candidate base station and being listened to by the mobile-telephone. In situations where signals transmitted from active set base stations have a low signal-to-noise ratio at the mobile-telephone, signals transmitted from the candidate base station may have a higher signal-to-noise ratio at the mobile-telephone. In these situations, the transmission of the HD messages from the candidate base station increases the likelihood that a copy of the handoff direction message will be successfully received by the mobile-telephone, thereby enhancing the success rate of soft handoffs.

摘要: A system for measuring the performance of a mobile network includes a field measurement device, a server and a built-in command set. The field measurement device continuously scans an assigned frequency of the mobile network to collect measurement data. The server remotely controls the field measurement device by sending the command script via the mobile network to the field measurement device. The built-in command set includes predefined trouble call containing the situation of a low quality event, and indicators for the low quality event is detected by referring to, for example, received signal strength indicator (RSSI). One test sample for any indicator is an average value in a certain user-defined period, and the low quality event will be triggered if the test sample count or ratio reaches a user-defined threshold of any indicator in a judgment window which is a user-defined duration to decide whether the event happens or not.
