摘要： An image processing apparatus includes a first determination unit for determining the direction of an input image, a second determination unit for determining if the input image is a portrait type or landscape type, and an image rotation unit for rotating the input image in correspondence with the determination results of the first and second determination units. The image rotation unit rotates one of portrait type and landscape type images to adjust the direction of the image in a predetermined direction, and rotates the other one of portrait type and landscape type images to adjust the direction of the image in a direction perpendicular to the predetermined direction.

摘要： An image processor rotates an image in conformity with the orientation of an original, thereby enhancing user convenience. An original conveyed by an automatic conveyance device is read by an image reader and the image is stored in an image memory. A character in the stored image is subsequently recognized by a character recognition unit and the orientation of the character is discriminated. The image is rotated by an image editor in conformity with a stapling position, and the rotated image is recorded by an image recording unit. Sheets of paper on which images are recorded are stapled at the stapling position by a staple provided in a sorter.

摘要： A reading apparatus includes an image reader for reading a sheet original positioned at a reading position and an automatic original conveyor for supplying the sheet original onto the reading position, wherein the sheet original can be read through an image flow reading mode while the sheet original is being conveyed by the automatic original conveyor by fixing the image reader at any position. The apparatus also has a convey path for directing the sheet original to the reading position, and a controller for initiating conveyance of the sheet original waiting at a predetermined position in the convey path in response to a flow reading mode start signal during the image flow reading mode and for initiating the image flow reading mode by outputting an image tip signal when a tip end of the sheet original reaches a flow reading image tip position.

摘要： An image forming apparatus such as copying apparatus or laser beam printer in which each section of the apparatus is controlled by using a fuzzy inference. The apparatus comprises: processors to form an image; a detector to detect at least one state amount regarding the control of the processors; an inference operation unit to infer a control amount which is used in the control of the processors on the basis of the state amount; and a correction circuit to correct the delay amount of the control system in the inference. The processors include at least one of the charging device, exposing device, developing device, copy transfer device, paper feeding device, conveying device, fixing device, and image forming mode setting device. A predetermined value is added to or subtracted from the value obtained by the fuzzy inference so as to suppress the influence by the delay amount of the control system.
