    Abstract: A compound including a first ligand LA having the structure of Formula I, is disclosed. In Formula I, rings A and B are each a 6-membered rings; Z1 and Z2 are each carbon or nitrogen; each RA and RB is independently hydrogen or a variety of substituents; any two substituents are optionally joined or fused into a ring; at least one RA or RB comprises an aromatic group substituted by a bridge structure, and this RA or RB joins with an adjacent substituent and fuses to ring A or B; the bridge structure comprises a backbone structure that forms a fused first ring; the backbone structure is saturated, comprises at least one heteroatom, and is optionally further substituted; and the ligand LA is coordinated to a metal M that can be coordinated to other ligands.

    Abstract: A novel compound is disclosed which includes a ligand LA of Formula I, Formula II, Formula III, or Formula IV: wherein: ring B is independently a 5-membered or 6-membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring; X1 to X4 are each independently selected from the group consisting of C, N, and CR; at least one pair of adjacent X1 to X4 are each C and fused to a structure of Formula V where indicated by “”; X5 to X12 are each independently C or N; the maximum number of N within a ring is two; Z and Y are each independently selected from the group consisting of O, S, Se, NR′, CR′R″, SiR′R″, and GeR′R″; RB and RC each independently represents zero, mono, or up to a maximum allowed substitutions to its associated ring; each of RB, RC, R, R′, and R″ is independently hydrogen or a substituent selected from the group consisting of deuterium, halogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, heteroalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, arylalkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, amino, silyl, alkenyl, cycloalkenyl, heteroalkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, heteroaryl, acyl, carboxylic acid, ether, ester, nitrile, isonitrile, sulfanyl, sulfinyl, sulfonyl, phosphino, boryl, and combinations thereof; and two substituents can be joined or fused to form a ring; the ligand LA is complexed to a metal M through the two indicated dash lines of each Formula; and the ligand LA can be joined with other ligands to form a tridentate, tetradentate, pentadentate, or hexadentate ligand.

    Abstract: A compound capable of functioning as a phosphorescent emitter in an organic light emitting device at room temperature is provided. The compound includes at least one substituent R, where each of the at least one substituent R has the formula of: —G1-G2, where the dashed line denotes the bond through which R is attached in the first compound; G1 is a non-aromatic cyclic or polycyclic group; G2 is selected from aryl and heteroaryl; and G1 and G2 are independently, optionally further substituted with a substituent selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, deuterium, halide, alkyl, cycloalkyl, heteroalkyl, arylalkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, amino, silyl, alkenyl, cycloalkenyl, heteroalkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, heteroaryl, acyl, carbonyl, carboxylic acids, ester, nitrile, isonitrile, sulfanyl, sulfinyl, sulfonyl, phosphino, and combinations thereof. Organic light emitting devices, consumer products, and formulations containing the compound are also provided.

In these structures, Y1 to Y12 and Z3 and Z4 are independently CR or N; where each R, R′, R″, RF, and RG is hydrogen or a substituent, where at least one dashed arc represents Rs joined into a 5-membered or 6-membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring; where the first ligand is complexed to a metal M; where ring G is a fused ring structure comprising five or more fused heterocyclic or carbocyclic rings, of which at least one ring is of Formula III where the fused heterocyclic or carbocyclic rings of Ring G are 5- or 6-membered; where Y is selected from BR′, NR′, PR′, O, S, Se, C═O, S═O, SO2, CR′R″, SiR′R″, and GeR′R″. Organic light emitting devices and consumer products containing the compounds are also disclosed.
