Abstract: A charging function device may include a processor configured to obtain subscription information associated with a user equipment (UE) device in a wireless communication network. The processor may be further configured to receive, from a gateway device, data flow information relating to data flows associated with the UE device; receive, from a policy device, policy information relating to policies applied to the data flows associated with the UE device; generate a record for the UE device based on the received data flow information and the received policy information, wherein the record identifies at least one account charge based on a particular data flow associated with the UE device; and provide the generated charging record to an account system.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide for an election procedure, in a high availability (“HA”) environment, for a backup controller to assume operations performed by a master controller in the event that the master controller becomes unreachable. The master controller may be associated with (e.g., provisioned on) the same set of hardware as one or more worker nodes, and may control operation of the one or more worker nodes. The election procedure may be performed based on performance metrics, location, or efficiency metrics associated with candidate backup controllers (e.g., cloud-based backup controllers), including performance of communications between particular backup controllers and the one or more worker nodes.

Abstract: A wireless communication device (WCD) may receive resource utilization values indicating an amount of available resources of server devices that are capable of sharing resources to support a session of an application. The WCD may generate performance scores for base station-server device groupings that are candidates for being selected as a target base station and a target server device. The WCD may select the target base station and the target server device based on the set of performance scores. The WCD may cause the session to be established in a manner that allows resources of the target server device to support the session of the application.

Abstract: A method is provided for using virtual subscriber identity modules (vSIMs) for client devices. A network device receives a selection of network services to be associated with a virtual subscriber identity module (vSIM); initiates creation of a blockchain including a vSIM certificate for the network services; associates the vSIM certificate with a user account; receives, from a client device associated with the user account, an access request for the vSIM certificate; activates, in response to the access request, the client device for access to the network services; and provides instructions to update the blockchain in response to the activating. Thus, the vSIM can be retrieved and used by any one of different devices associated with the user account or loaned to other users.
