There is provided an apparatus for regulating the position of an adjustably positionable vehicle part such as a window or movable roof. The apparatus includes an electric drive motor having a drive shaft which is axially displaceable within a fixed limit during driving operation of the shaft. The apparatus also includes a power transfer assembly having a driven member operatively connected to the drive shaft of the electric drive motor for driving movement thereby and a damping member for damping the axial displacement of the drive shaft of the electric motor in one axial direction. The apparatus further includes a housing having a chamber compatibly dimensioned with respect to the damping member for receiving the damping member therein in a press fit disposition.

A method and a device are proposed for setting the short circuit moment in electric motors, particularly in servomotors. For this purpose, the actual short circuit moment of the electric motor is measured and compared with a predetermined short circuit moment. Then the set short circuit current required to attain the desired moment is calculated. A predetermined value for the set short circuit current, which is a function of the calculated value, is then stored in an electronic control device for the electric motor. For this purpose, the device includes a memory in the control device for storing the predetermined set value. In this way it is possible in a simple and economical manner to equip even motors that are produced in manufacturing series and in which greater component tolerances exist, with a short circuit moment that lies within a narrow tolerance range.

A torsion element (24) is provided between the stagger gears (10, 22) that compensates the clearance in the stagger gears (10, 22) within a first range of adjustment (18) of the seat back (6) and functions as support for the driver motor within a further range of adjustment (19) of the seat back (6).
