摘要: A method (203) for using electronic large format location dependent documents can include the steps of determining (200) a location of a remote user terminal (110) and accessing (210) at a server a document database having document information related to the plurality of documents. The document information includes at least one physical location associated with each document and the method further includes the step of searching (220) the document database and generating (230) a list of matching documents. The list of matching documents includes an identification of each one of the plurality of documents having an associated physical location substantially matching the determined location of the remote user terminal. The method can further retrieve (250) a selected document from the mass storage device system and display (260) the selected document on a large format display (105) coupled to the remote user terminal.

摘要: A method and system for retry of a packet data call. The method can include the steps of attempting (210) an IP registration with a mobile unit (110) to make a packet data call using a first protocol on a network (120) that employs both the first protocol and a second protocol for packet data calls and detecting (212) a failure in the IP registration using the first protocol due to a failure in a data link layer of the first protocol. A physical layer of the first protocol is unaffected by the failure in the data link layer of the first protocol such that communications may still be performed over the physical layer. The method can also include the steps of—at the mobile unit—ceasing (214) the attempted IP registration using the first protocol on the network and attempting (216) an IP registration with the mobile unit using the second protocol of the network. As an example, the first protocol can be EVDO, and the second protocol can be 1X.

摘要: A method and system that mitigates data session degradation over a radio link connection with an end server by allocating resources at a wireless communication device based on real-time radio frequency (RF) channel conditions. A performance tracking and resource allocation (PTRA) logic monitors radio access bearer (RAB) configuration and radio link quality for communication links between the WCD and the end server. The PTRA logic sets a maximum transmission unit (MTU) size parameter to a pre-established size associated with the measured radio link quality. In response to detecting a change in the RAB configuration, the PTRA logic performs a real-time round trip time (RTT) measurement utilizing individual RTTs associated with packet segments transmitted at a lower protocol layer. In addition, the PTRA logic modifies at least one of a transmission control protocol (TCP) receive window (RWIN) and a TCP transmit window (TWIN) using the real-time RTT measurements and RAB configuration.

摘要: A communication device (102), communication node (104), and method for transmitting a message are disclosed. The method includes calculating number of frames (402) in a message to be transmitted from the communication device. The method further includes determining transmission power (404) for the message based on the number of frames. The method further includes transmitting each frame of the message (406) using the determined transmission power.

摘要: Modulation codes for code division multiple access (CDMA) cellular communications systems that are mutually orthogonal may be generated as a sequence of Walsh codes. A method of assigning Walsh codes includes the steps of (404) receiving as input a status vector (200) for a Walsh code system of length 2n and a selected Walsh code length j=2n−k; (406)–(418) creating a new status vector for a selected Walsh code length of j from the status vector; (416) creating a search mask for the selected Walsh code length j; (418) creating a search sequence for the selected Walsh code length j; and (434)–(442) searching the search sequence for the next available Walsh code. The status vector is updated (500) to track the assignment and release of each Walsh code of each Walsh code length in the Walsh code system.

摘要: After a base station (101) receives a communication initiation request from a remote unit (113), the base station determines (101) those base stations (101–103) that are capable of supporting communication with the remote unit (113). The eligible base stations (Active Set) are instructed to “listen” for communication from the remote unit (113), and the remote unit (113) is provided the Active Set. Once the remote unit (113) receives the Active Set of base stations, the remote unit then determines the base station (103) having the best radio environment characteristics, and begins communication with that base station (103).
