摘要： An image scanning system includes an image scanner and a terminal device connected with the image scanner. The terminal device accepts a password, stores an image encryption key, encrypts the image encryption key with the password, sends the encrypted image encryption key to the image scanner, receives image data encrypted from the image scanner, and decrypts the image data encrypted using one of the image encryption key and an image decryption key corresponding to the image encryption key. The image scanner receives the encrypted image encryption key from the terminal device, accepts a password, decrypts the encrypted image encryption key with the password, performs document scanning to create image data, encrypts the image data using the image encryption key decrypted, and sends the image data encrypted to the terminal device.

摘要： In order to prevent unnecessary APIPA process from being executed in a LAN environment which does not adopt APIPA, an ICMP echo request for a predetermined IP address is broadcast. Whether there are more than N apparatuses using APIPA is checked based on the replies, and if there are, IP address setting by APIPA is executed. In a LAN environment which adopts APIPA, whether the IP address to be assigned to an apparatus is already being used by another apparatus is checked. If the date and time when the another apparatus was assigned the IP address is earlier than the date and time when the apparatus was assigned the IP address, APIPA is executed to decide the IP address of the apparatus.

摘要： A system for providing a service from a service-providing device to a client device is provided. The service-providing device includes a database, a registering unit, a providing unit, a service end judging unit, and a service terminating unit. The client device includes a usage registration unit, a setting information storing unit, a function executing unit, a detecting unit, and a re-registration unit. The re-registration unit reads out the setting information corresponding to the terminated service from the memory if the terminated service is detected by the detecting unit, and transmits the setting information along with the registration request signal to the service-providing device to make a usage registration for the terminated service. Devices, methods and computer-readable media having programs stored thereon are also provided for making a re-registration for a service which has been terminated by a service-providing device, without requiring a user to conduct an operation for re-registration.
