In a content delivery system including a server and content processing apparatus connected to each other across a network, a content delivered by the system is encrypted with a content key Kc, and supplied along with a sublicense encrypted with a work key Kw to a DTV. The sublicense includes a second use condition under which a content is used and a content key Kc for decrypting an encrypted content. The work key Kw for decrypting an encrypted content is included in a main license. The main license is supplied to the DTV separately from the content. The main license includes, in addition to the work key Kw, a first use condition under which a content under a subscription contract is used.

[Object] To realize processing for switching a reproduction state from broadcast data to network data and resuming the reproduction of the original broadcast data.[Solving Means] A browser (241) acquires, via a network, an XML-AIT having a content equivalent to a broadcast AIT defining a life cycle of a broadcast application while a VoD content is reproduced after being switched from the broadcast application. The browser (241) manages the broadcast application based on the XML-AIT and resumes the reception of the broadcast application after the reproduction of the VoD content is ended. With this structure, processing of separating two transport streams at the same time becomes unnecessary, and one demultiplexer (23) only needs to be provided.

The present invention is intended to link television broadcast content and Web content with each other so that both types of content match the characteristics of television media, and prevent the viewing of television broadcasting from being interrupted. An associated information providing method for providing associated information linked with a video to an audience includes the steps of: receiving select information for selecting the video viewed by the audience and audience identification information for identifying the audience; retrieving locational information on a network of associated information about contents of the video viewed by the audience on the basis of the received select information; and transmitting the retrieved locational information to the audience on the basis of the audience identification information.

A JVM converts JAVA™ bytecode into native code and executes the native code. An API library is a set of commands and functions that can be used when developing a navigation program and a set of protocols defining procedures. The navigation program is a program that reproduces data recorded on an optical disc and can control hardware of a reproducing apparatus only within the range of the API library. An application program provides a function unique to the reproducing apparatus. The navigation program and the application program execute a process in cooperation with each other using IXC.

An information processing device is capable of handling changes occurring in values of information possessed by targets. Relationships between information are expressed as relationship structures through connection in a hierarchical manner using links expressing topic nodes expressing content of information as reference information. The relationship structures are generated for each provider providing information and generate an overall relationship structure for all of the information. A weighting is assigned to links so that values can be calculated for the topic nodes using just the weightings of nodes linking to topic nodes. These values are such that in a case where user information is utilized, topic node values relating to this information are added. It is therefore possible to know the value of information with respect to a user using these topic nodes.

Content items are provided from a content server 21 to a plurality of broadcast receiving apparatuses 14-1 to 14-3 via a broadcasting network 12. A video clip server 16 obtains, from the content server 21, shared content that is content shared by a plurality of users, among the provided content items. The video clip server 16 sends selecting information for selecting the obtained shared content to the plurality of broadcast receiving apparatuses 14-1 to 14-3 via the Internet 11. The shared content selected by the broadcast receiving apparatuses 14-1 to 14-3 on the basis of the selecting information is provided from the video clip server 16 to the broadcast receiving apparatuses 14-1 to 14-3.

The present invention provided a contents delivery system (11) that can deliver contents by way of the Internet. In the system, a browser (23) requests a contents server (75) to delivery a startup file. The contents server (75) transmits the startup file to the browser (23). The startup file describes that the contents are to be delivered by streaming or that they are to be delivered by downloaded files. A contents reproducing section (24) determines if the contents are those to be delivered by streaming or those to be delivered by downloaded files according to the description of the startup file it receives from the browser (23). A television receiving set (3) may be used as contents processing apparatus for receiving the delivery of the contents from a contents delivery apparatus of such a system.
