    摘要: An assembly method is provided by orienting a cylinder-head at a first orientation. A first plurality of spring caps and a first plurality of retainer keys are installed into the cylinder-head in the first orientation by a first robot. A first plurality of valves is installed into the cylinder-head in the first orientation by a second robot, into engagement with the first plurality of retainer keys. An end effector is provided with an actuator supported upon an adapter plate. A shaft extends from the actuator with a mating surface to engage a spring cap. Porting is provided through the shaft to convey pressurized air upon a plurality of retainer keys within the spring cap. A plurality of gripper fingers extend from the distal end of the shaft to grip a valve spring while retaining a spring cap between the valve spring and the mating surface of the shaft.

    摘要: A tool for attaching valve keys to a valve stem includes an elongated holder with a longitudinal axis, an inner hollow space and an end opening. An elongated core is arranged in the hollow space of the holder coaxially to the longitudinal axis. An elongated recess for receiving a substantial upper portion of the valve stem is provided in the end region of the core coaxially to the longitudinal axis. The recess of the core issues into the end opening and has a depth which is greater than or at least equal to the axial distance between the end and the annular groove of the valve stem. The core at least partially covers the annular groove, such that the valve keys can be supplied to the lateral surface of a valve stem underneath the annular groove and incorrect engagement can be avoided.

    摘要: A large-diameter-side end surface (104a) of a cotter (104) can be supported by a cotter holder (32) from below through inserting a shaft member (102) along an inner periphery of the cotter (104) from above the cotter (104). In this state, a protrusion (104b) of the cotter (104) and an annular groove (102a) of the shaft member (102) are fitted to each other, and the cotter (104) and a retainer (103) are taper-fitted to each other. Consequently, the cotter is prevented from being unstable, and hence it is possible to assemble the retainer (103) and the cotter (104) to the shaft member (102) with good accuracy.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a cotter-mounting apparatus that, by engaging a pair of cotters with engagement grooves provided on the outer circumferential surface of an axial member, mounts the pair of cotters that fix a retainer for holding a spring to exert a pressing force to the axial member in a compressed state, wherein the cotter-mounting apparatus includes a retainer holding mechanism that holds a retainer having a pair of cotters incorporated, and is driven to be relatively elevated and lowered on the upper side in the axial line direction of the axial member; a cotter separating mechanism for separating the pair of cotters from each other over the outer diameter of the axial member roughly in the horizontal direction while pushing up the pair of cotters from downward and for holding the pair of cotters; and a cotter pressing mechanism for pressing the pair of cotters separated by the cotter separating mechanism from the outside roughly in the horizontal direction and causing the cotters to be engaged with the engagement grooves positioned in advance. With such a structure, it is possible to mount cotters with a simple procedure, to increase productivity and to engage the pair of cotters with a plurality of engagement grooves without fail.

    摘要: Devices for introducing valve keys in internal-combustion-engine valves have heretofore required complex locking and actuating devices in order to bring the valve keys into a fitting position. In order to reduce the introducing procedure, a guide body has a recess which runs symmetrically with respect to its central axis. A conveying channel is formed by a pin passing through the recess in its longitudinal direction, by wall regions of the recess and by guide beads which are attached in such a way that they can pivot and are extended parallel to the pin in their basic position. The guide bead is bent inwards in the direction of the pin with such a radius and a distance between the bent region and the pin as well as the valve stem is set in such a manner, that bulges of the fed-in valve key engage into annular grooves of the valve stem at the end of the conveying channel.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for reliably placing the spring retainer and keys on a valve stem, to lock the valve spring in place. The apparatus includes a linear actuator, having an extended position and a retracted position, and a connector for connecting the linear actuator to a carrying member, such as a robotic arm. A gripper is attached to the linear actuator, adapted to grip the spring retainer. The keys reside in a retainer-key kit, held therein by gravity, and are presented to the gripper in a predetermined position by a positioning device. As the linear actuator is extended from its retracted position to its extended position, the gripper engages the retainer-key kit. The retainer-key kit is then withdrawn from the positioning device by retracting the linear actuator. The gripper and retainer-key kit are then transported to the cylinder head so that the retainer-key kit is substantially positioned for application to the valve stem. The linear actuator is then extended to its extended position to apply the retainer onto the valve stem. At about the same time, vacuum is applied to the keys to draw the keys to a position above the retainer. After the retainer is applied to the valve stem, positive pressure is applied to the keys to move the keys back into the retainer, around the valve stem, as the gripper is withdrawn from the retainer by retracting the linear actuator.

A metallic anti-wear plate (88) is secured to the top of each arm (52). An installation and removal tool (92) for the retainer (30) comprises three wedge-shaped prongs (98) insertable within the three expansion slots (54) separating the three arms (52) for blossoming the retainer (30) prior to insertion and removal. A member (102) extends integrally from each of the prongs (98) for engaging the return spring (28) to maintain the return spring (28) spaced from the retainer (30) prior to blossoming the retainer (30).
