    摘要: A tool for removal of an automotive engine valve from a cylinder head, the valve including a valve stem, valve spring, and keepers locking the spring in engagement with the valve stem. The tool compresses the valve spring to remove the keepers from the valve stem to thereby permit removal of said valve. The tool includes a working head and a shaft/handle extending up from it. The working head includes axially aligned bottom and top members separated by spacer posts. The bottom member includes an annular ring with a center aperture and an upstanding cylindrical sidewall, and magnets on the annular ring within the sidewall. The shaft/handle are connected to the top member and extend upward from the working head in axial alignment with it. Axial movement of the working head along the valve stem and against the valve spring compresses the spring to release the keepers from the valve stem for attachment to the magnets. To reassemble the valve, a flexible diaphragm removably fastened to the bottom of the annular ring adapts the tool to reengage the keepers with the valve stem.

    摘要: A three piece tool for reassembly and disassembly of poppet valve spring assemblies which are set inside bores in engines. The tool includes a tubular part that closely fits the engine bore, slides down and around the spring assembly, and contacts the top of a washer of the spring assembly. Compression, using a C-clamp or like tool, forces the tubular member, and the washer, downward and allows the keepers to be removed from the valve stem. Release of the compression allows the spring assembly to be disassembled. Reassembly is accomplished using the tubular member with a liner and a plunger. With the keepers, springs and washer positioned, the tubular part, with a liner and plunger, is inserted into the bore and the tubular member pushed downward to compress the springs. The plunger serves to move the keepers into their operational position so that release of the force on the tube relocks the spring assembly into its operational position.

    摘要: An assembly method is provided by orienting a cylinder-head at a first orientation. A first plurality of spring caps and a first plurality of retainer keys are installed into the cylinder-head in the first orientation by a first robot. A first plurality of valves is installed into the cylinder-head in the first orientation by a second robot, into engagement with the first plurality of retainer keys. An end effector is provided with an actuator supported upon an adapter plate. A shaft extends from the actuator with a mating surface to engage a spring cap. Porting is provided through the shaft to convey pressurized air upon a plurality of retainer keys within the spring cap. A plurality of gripper fingers extend from the distal end of the shaft to grip a valve spring while retaining a spring cap between the valve spring and the mating surface of the shaft.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for automated valve spring assembly includes a head assembly with elongated passageways that movably support a pair of retainer keys. A pair of control members selectively close off the passageways. The head assembly further includes a moveable divider plate and a pair of jaws. A push member or rod closes off the passageways by shifting the control members upon movement of the pushrod. The pushrod also slides the retainer keys such that the retainer keys contact tapered inner surfaces of the jaws and rotate the jaws outwardly. The retainer keys are thereby axially positioned relative to the end of a valve stem. The retainer plate is then retracted, and the jaws shift inwardly and push or position the retainer keys on the valve stem.

    摘要: A tool for attaching valve keys to a valve stem includes an elongated holder with a longitudinal axis, an inner hollow space and an end opening. An elongated core is arranged in the hollow space of the holder coaxially to the longitudinal axis. An elongated recess for receiving a substantial upper portion of the valve stem is provided in the end region of the core coaxially to the longitudinal axis. The recess of the core issues into the end opening and has a depth which is greater than or at least equal to the axial distance between the end and the annular groove of the valve stem. The core at least partially covers the annular groove, such that the valve keys can be supplied to the lateral surface of a valve stem underneath the annular groove and incorrect engagement can be avoided.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a cotter-mounting apparatus that, by engaging a pair of cotters with engagement grooves provided on the outer circumferential surface of an axial member, mounts the pair of cotters that fix a retainer for holding a spring to exert a pressing force to the axial member in a compressed state, wherein the cotter-mounting apparatus includes a retainer holding mechanism that holds a retainer having a pair of cotters incorporated, and is driven to be relatively elevated and lowered on the upper side in the axial line direction of the axial member; a cotter separating mechanism for separating the pair of cotters from each other over the outer diameter of the axial member roughly in the horizontal direction while pushing up the pair of cotters from downward and for holding the pair of cotters; and a cotter pressing mechanism for pressing the pair of cotters separated by the cotter separating mechanism from the outside roughly in the horizontal direction and causing the cotters to be engaged with the engagement grooves positioned in advance. With such a structure, it is possible to mount cotters with a simple procedure, to increase productivity and to engage the pair of cotters with a plurality of engagement grooves without fail.
