A latching system comprising a base having a first keeper secured thereto, a closable member adapted to engage the base, an elongated member rotatably secured to the closable member, said elongated member including a first connector adapted to engage the first keeper when the closable member engages the base and the elongated member is rotated, and a latch plate assembly hingedly secured to the closable member and adapted to rotate the elongated member.
Abstract:
A multi-purpose, collapsible portable cart, for use in camping, hunting and other outdoors activities carries medical rescue carts, canoes, small boats, game, or hauled cargo by hand. The portable cart can be converted to a various uses and the portable cart can be folded down and transported within a backpack, hand carried bag, canoe or boat. It transports injured persons or cargo over long, rough terrain and it can broken down into a carrying position, by hand or by back. Its width can be varied to accommodate cargo of varying widths. Two or four wheeled versions can be assembled with axles and wheels. The cart has optional removable clamps for clamping a conventional transportable carrier, such as a stretcher or stokes-type rescue carrier bed, thereto. The objects being carried can be held by clamps, by fasteners, or through the use of insertions with longitudinally extending channels. An optional pivotable kickstand and/or tie rods can stabilize the cart in a position of rest. It is collapsible, so that it can be disassembled and carried, and then reassembled at another destination along a wilderness journey.
Abstract:
A container for a stack of newspapers includes bottom, side, and back walls and a substantially open front to facilitate stacking newspapers in the container, and inspecting the stack for non-paper contaminants. A pair of rotatable wheels on the bottom of the container, and a base on the bottom of the container are adapted to rest on a horizontal supporting surface such as a floor. A pair of inwardly extending lips on the front of the container restrain the stack of papers when the container is tilted and rolled from one location to another. The container bottom slopes downwardly away from the open front of the container, and the back of the container slopes upwardly away from the open front to promote forming a stack which is slightly inclined to vertical when the container rests on the horizontal surface. External means on the container facilitate picking up the container and dumping the stack of papers in a collection truck.
Abstract:
A carrier system for transporting equipment, such as bicycles. The carrier of a preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a partial enclosed compartment having a substantially oval shape. Two opposing lid members are pivotally mounted on each end of the compartment. The two lid members open upward and outward to allow full access to the interior of the compartment. The two lid members then close downward and towards one another with a slight overlap to fully enclose the body to form the carrier body. In one embodiment, the axle assembly and tongue are directly mounted on the lower surface of the trailer body. Equipment mounting devices are formed or affixed directly in the interior of the trailer body. The equipment is thus able to be securely transported without danger from the elements or from unauthorized access.

A trailer (10) is provided having a framework (12) carrying ground engaging wheels (14), a body (16) having a corrugated bottom wall and defining a storage compartment and a tiedown fastener for securing the body to the framework through the corrugated bottom wall. The trailer includes an interchangeable top (18) and tailgate. The trailer also includes a novel spring assembly. The spring assembly includes a leaf spring with an anchoring aperture at one end and a mounting tongue at the other. The mounting tongue is captured between the framework and a fastener and provides relative sliding movement. Additionnally, the sidewalls of the trailer include aligned slots (70) that receive a strut which supports an optional shelf.

A body trailer is provided and consists of a housing having a compartment for storing various items, with a door hinged to the housing for covering the compartment. A pair of wheels are mounted on one end of the housing, while a mechanism is mounted on other end of the housing for towing the body trailer behind a person, with the wheels rolling along the ground.

Disclosed is a motorcycle cargo trailer having a low profile and constructed with a swing arm suspension system which allows it to travel close to the road with a low center of gravity. Air adjustable shock absorbers are provided to support the suspension swing arms. The wheels of the trailer are enclosed within wheel wells to reduce splash of water and mud from the wheels. The trailer tongue is adjustable for varying heights of motorcycles. The trailer includes a reservoir which is formed within structural components of the unibody structural system. A hitch system which reduces vibration and prevents trailer sway even at high speeds is also shown.
Abstract:
A traffic direction control system for signalling and controlling high speed traffic. A portable sign panel containing a suitable arrow configuration of signal lights is mounted on a trailer for selective movement between a horizontal and vertical position. The sign panel is mounted on a support means adapted for pivotal movement between said horizontal and vertical positions. Means are provided for raising the sign support means to any position intermediate of said horizontal and vertical positions to thereby selectively adjust the height of said sign panel. The sign panel is also pivotally mounted on said support means and means are provided for locking the sign panel in preselected angular positions with respect to the horizontal plane of the trailer on which it is mounted.
