摘要:
A method is described for attenuating the oscillation of a ship, which includes a controller of a drive adapted to move at least one fin to allow stabilizing the ship, when the ship is at zero speed, anchored, wherein the motion of such at least one fin comprises an initial acceleration step, an intermediate step at constant speed and a final deceleration step. In the initial acceleration step, such at least one fin can start from a first angular position, while in the final deceleration step, such at least one fin can reach a second angular position corresponding to minimum or null values of effects opposite to those of the acceleration and constant speed steps of such at least one fin to allow maximizing the useful roll moment generated by such at least one fin.

A sail boat propulsion and stabilisation system. The system uses a device to substantially increase the performance of sail or motor boats by reducing the displacement to increase speed and comfort during sailing, due to its light weight and dynamics. The system comprises a control panel connected to a hydraulic group which actuates the device. The device is provided with a keel wing and a counterbalance or lift wing joined by a bulb, a cylindrical actuator for the counterbalance and lift wing, a hydraulic rotary actuator for hoisting the assembly, an articulation shaft, and a tilting shaft for the assembly which is coupled to the broadside or to the mounting base beside sensors of the angle of attack of the counterbalance wing. The hydraulic group and the cylindrical hydraulic actuator are optionally replaced by a cylindrical electric actuator connected to the control panel and acting upon the counterbalance wing.

A mooring system for stabilizing a vessel for handling offshore structures includes at least one mooring unit, a connection mechanism for connecting the mooring unit to the vessel, and a tractive mechanism for stabilizing the vessel by establishing permanent tension in the connection mechanism. Furthermore, the tractive mechanism includes a mechanism for lowering the connected vessel's position in relation to the water level. A method of stabilizing a vessel, a vessel for handling offshore structures and use of a mooring system are also contemplated.

A device for stabilizing boats and other water craft that is generally blade-shaped and attaches to the body or hull of the boat. The stabilizing device projects generally outwardly and downwardly from the boat and is pivotally connected along the vertical axis at the attachment point to the water craft. The device improves the stability of the boat and resists unwanted drift either from a stationary position or from a desired heading.

Stabilization apparatus (12) for a watercraft (10) having a hull (14), including at least one hydrofoil (20) with a leading edge (22) and a trailing edge (24), the edges defining a chord (26) extending therebetween, the at least one hydrofoil being mounted below an underside of the hull and arranged for rotation about an axis (30) that is generally perpendicular to the chord and directed towards the underside (28) of the hull, and control apparatus (40) that rotates the at least one hydrofoil about the axis in response to roll of the watercraft so as to stabilize the watercraft against the roll. Preferably the axis passes generally through the chord's center.

A hydrofoil member for a sailboat of the type having a single hull with no fixed ballast includes an elongate arm portion which extends laterally outwardly away from the sailboat along a generally horizontal plane when in use. The arm portion has an upwardly-facing surface, a downwardly-facing surface, and an outer end portion which flares upwardly relative to the horizontal plane. The hydrofoil member further comprises a pontoon element mounted on the downwardly-facing surface of the arm portion at the outer end portion. The pontoon element is adapted to engage and displace water when in use for stabilizing the sailboat. The arm has is capable of being retracted to stow the hydrofoil member in a parallel position against the hull when not in use.

High performance sailing yacht designs are disclosed based on a keelless sailing yacht concept having dynamic gravitational ballast which is laterally movable for heeling resistance which ballast replaces a function of the standard keel. A keelless yacht of this type is disclosed with an adjustable flap mounted on an elongated strut from which the ballast is suspended below the hull to generate a variable heel hydrodynamic control force independently of the counter-heeling effect achieved by the ballast. The foregoing features enhance the effects of disclosed improvements and modifications to hull design in having a duplex form, with upper and lower hull shapes, the lower of low drag shape, and of reduced section, while the upper hull extends laterally abeam from the lower hull to define reserve buoyancy, added accomodation, and surfaces adapted for hydroplaning when the yacht is at a controlled angle of heel.

A water and air supported vehicle propelled by the wind. The vehicle includes a long narrow hull (30) that displaces water at low speeds and a plurality of hydrolfoils (36) distending from the hull in communication with the water resisting lateral loads and at high speeds partially supporting the vehicle. An airfoil (38) whose section is suitable for a membrane surface is pivotally attached to the hull and acts to partially support and provide thrust to propel the vehicle. A strut and a plurality of tendons (58), (60), (62), (64) and (72) position the airfoil relative to the hull (30) and articulate the airfoil when manually actuated. The shape of the airfoil tips elements (46) provide vehicle roll resistance when they penetrate the water surface and a payload is supported by a hull torque link (66) and a cantilever beam (90) with a sling (92) positioned therebetween. Other embodiments articulate the hydrofoils in concert or include a payload containing capsule (112).
