摘要:
A shingle blank is provided comprising a substrate coated with an asphalt coating and configured to include a prime region. The asphalt coating includes an upper section and a lower section, the upper section is positioned above the substrate and the lower section is positioned below the substrate. A web is applied to the lower section of the prime region. At least one perforation line is positioned in the shingle blank. The at least one perforation line is sufficient to facilitate separation of the shingle blank.

A composite roofing tile with multiple tile images is adapted for presentation of the individual tile images in a non-repeating manner, and for interlocking with adjacent stacked and installed tiles.

A web of roofing material (20) is perforated for segmentation into plural trapezoidal-shaped shingles (22). In view of the perforation (24) of the web (20), the trapezoidal-shaped shingles (22) are pre-configured for use as hip and ridge shingles advantageously having edges pre-shaped to align upon installation to present an essentially straight line of edges of contiguous shingles. The hip and ridge shingles are detachable from the web at the perforation to facilitate use of the shingles on a roofing obliquity (40). A method of applying shingles to a roof includes segmenting a pre-perforated web of roofing material into individual shingles, positioning a first trapezoidal shaped shingle on the roofing obliquity (40) so that the major parallel edge thereof is bent across a bend line of the roofing obliquity and so that the major parallel edge of the first trapezoidal shaped shingle serves as a leading exposed edge of the shingle, affixing the first trapezoidal shape shingle to the roof understructure, and using a sealant strip (36) of the first shingle as a guide for positioning a second shingle over the first shingle. A method of making the roofing material comprises forming a covering material on a first surface of a substrate; cutting the substrate into a web, the web comprising plural trapezoidal shaped shingles; and, forming perforations in the web to facilitate segmentation of the web into the plural trapezoidal shaped shingles.

The present invention generally encompasses a ridge cap roofing product that is formed from a composite material. The ridge cap has a cross section that is generally in the shape of an inverted V with a rounded apex and includes a front section and a back section. The front section has a straight lower edge. The back section has a lowered edge that tapers both upward and inward. The tapered shape of the ridge cap's back section insures that installed ridge caps lie flat and that a covered ridge or hip does not have a saw tooth appearance. The ridge cap of the present invention is somewhat flexible so that it can be used with roofs that have a range of pitches. In one embodiment, the top surface of the ridge cap's front section is textured or contoured so that it simulates certain conventional shingles.

A shingle ridge cover is formed from a rectangular sheet of shingle roofing material back folded on itself to provide a central thickened portion for the shingle ridge cover. An upper portion of lesser thickness provides a nailing margin for the shingle ridge cover, and cooperates with a centrally-located thickest portion of the shingle ridge cover to provide a safety space to allow for “pop up” of the roofing nails or fasteners. A lower portion of the shingle ridge cover overlies the thickened upper portion of a preceding shingle ridge cover as installed on a roof, and cooperates with the preceding shingle ridge cover so that they together provide three layers of protective shingle sheet material over all portions of a hip, ridge, or rake of a roof on which the shingle ridge covers are installed. The thickened central portion of a ridge cover and the overlying lower portion of a next-successive ridge cover cooperate also to provide a shadow line at a hip, ridge, or rake of a roof, which shadow lines provided by plural shingle ridge covers contributes to an attractive aesthetic appearance for the roof.

A tile made of stiff molded synthetic resin having edges which overlap when a plurality of tiles are assembled upon a roof and an upper continuous contoured ridge along the upper edge and a lower continuous contoured ridge along the lower edge. The upper and lower ridges being stepped shape to engage with horizontal continuity when a plurality of tiles are assembled upon a roof. A through hole is provided in the lower ridge which aligns with a slot in the upper ridge to allow a screw to pass therethrough fastening two contiguous rows of tiles to a supporting structure.

A hip and ridge shingle includes a base sheet having colored granules adhered to the top surface. A chip is adhered to the base at the trailing edge of the base sheet. A sealant bead is provided parallel to and adjacent the leading edge of base sheet.

An asphalt composition ridge cover and method of forming the same whereby a decorative appearance somewhat resembling that of a shake roof ridge cover is achieved. The ridge cover generally is a pair of flat, approximately rectangular pieces of asphalt composition roofing material, having a plurality of tabs at one end of each piece which are folded over one another thereby forming a region of increased thickness at that end. The two pieces are adhesively joined in a plurality of areas including an area disposed to both sides of the central fold that forms the ridge line of ridge cover when installed, thereby holding the ridge cover in a folded configuration. The adhesive may contain a solid filler to increase the thickness of the ridge cover. The adhesive joining in the vicinity of the central folding inhibits further bending along the central fold and thereby reduces cracking. When installed, the thickened portions give the ridge covers, and the ridge on which they are installed, the appearance of a shake shingle or tile roof while maintaining double coverage as required in many installations. The shape and construction of the folded ridge cover allows the folded covers to be economically packed for shipping. One particular shape of the unfolded cover pieces permits a very economical cutting of such covers from rectangles of asphalt composition material of industry standard dimensions.

An injection molded rigid roof panel system for constructing pitched roof structures of the type affixed directly to roof trusses or rafters and needing no structural or supporting sheathing surface or moisture barrier. Comprised of no less than (23) standard roof panel components of varying shapes, sizes, colors and exposed surfaces replicating conventional roofing surfaces. Panels overlap, underlap and interlock by means of an array of shoulders, locating ribs and clearance channels creating a unitized roof system utilizing integral seals at the seams, subsurface water channels and self sealing, threaded fasteners whose molded-in, counter-bored holes are further sealed by composite plugs. Panels are produced by mixing, extruding and pelletizing a compound of over 60% recycled materials and encapsulating a semi-rigid fiberglass mesh sheet in the panels during the injection molding process producing a roofing product that is fire retardant, impervious to moisture, insects, ultraviolet rays and winds in excess of 130 mph.
