Abstract: A modular collaborative panel system intended for use on walls, frames and stands is disclosed. The system uses dry erase boards, chalk or black boards, or other panels having at least one writing surface. The panels have notches or cut-outs on each side so the panels can be mounted to a wall or a frame using pegs. The system combines panels in rows or columns, or both, to form a large, modular system for use at meetings, gatherings or other assemblies. The system allows a large number of users to contribute to a presentation, and also allows users to view the presentation.

Abstract: A tile for forming a modular deck with like-configured tiles, the tile having a web having a planar polygonal upper surface and a lower surface, a web strengthening structure on said lower surface, and a plurality of peripheral edges, where at least one of the edges includes a male connecting portion having a lateral tongue extending from the peripheral edge, and at least one of the edges includes a female connecting portion defining a lateral recess in the peripheral edge. In one embodiment, at least three of the peripheral edges include either of the male connecting portions or the female connecting portions.

Abstract: A tile and frame flooring system consisting of uniform frame elements joined together so as to create a support frame upon which a tile rests. The frame elements combine to form a lattice of support frames covering the surface to be tiled. The tiles are nestled into the frames to complete the flooring. The wood frame and tiles merge in appearance to form an aesthetically pleasing and continuous floor surface that is easy for the user to install.

Abstract: The tapered dovetail joint is a method of joining two boards, or other rigid materials such as particleboard, wafer board, etc., by a unique type of modified dovetail joint. The modification to the classic dovetail joint includes tapering the dovetail pins as well as the dovetail tails with the same angle of taper in the same direction. The mating of this tapered dovetail joint will be greatly facilitated due to these corresponding tapers. The tapered nature of this joint minimizes difficulties in assembly due to the wedging action that takes place as the two boards are brought into union to create the joint. This wedging action allows the joint to be assembled even when there is moderate damage to the tails or pins including swelling—due to moisture, from the time of manufacture to time of assembly, impact damage, as well as minor manufacturing tolerance deficiencies in cutting of the pins and tails.

Abstract: A modular decking system particularly adapted for use with docks in tidal coastal environments is presented. The system provides removable modular decking sections that allow the user to remove the decking prior to a large storm, preventing destruction of the dock by the hydraulic forces of violently rising water. Alternatively, the system may be used in a residential or commercial situation allowing the user to install decking over an area that typically requires access, such as over a flat roof or over areas containing buried services such as cables or piping. The system comprises a number of decking sections that are used with a conventional joist system. Each section includes a plurality of planks that are joined together in parallel to rails that hold the planks together during transportation, installation and removal of the decking sections. A joist cap is provided over each supporting joist, and clamping mechanisms are provided to secure the decking sections to the joist system.

Abstract: A fastener for securing boards to joists includes a first member having two parallel sharp, pointed prongs, and a third sharp, pointed prong extending from the first member. One of the prongs of the first member is driven into a first board and the other of the prongs is driven into the joist. The third prong secures an adjacent board to the first board.
