    摘要: A tilting pad thrust bearing arrangement (10, FIG. 1(b)) consists of an annular backing ring (12) providing an axially facing supporting surface (11) on which an array of bearing pads (201, 202 . . . 20i) is carried. Each pad has a flat supported surface (221) clamped to a thin mounting ring (30) of resilient steel by a headed fastener (41i) which bears on the supporting surface. The mounting ring is supported clear of the supporting surface at mounting points (32i) each side of each bearing pad which define a stand-off distance between ring and supporting surface of less than the height of each fastener head so that the ring is biased and each pad is lifted at the clamping position with its edges clear of the ring, thereby permitting it to pivot about the fulcrum formed by the fastener head. The supporting surface may be an intervening resilient ring (FIGS. 5 and 6).

    摘要: An axial bearing includes a ring, pads and a base. Multiple, independent pads are orientated in a curved or circular configuration with respect to one another. The pads are retained by recesses in the base. If the pump is installed in a centrifugal pump, the base is preferably integrated into a front impeller shroud. Each pad conforms in shape and size to a corresponding recess's shape and size. Each pad has a side which faces a face of the ring. Axial clearances between the base and the pads may be controlled by varying the pad heights. Fractured pads can potentially be retained in the recesses. The user may remove individual pads during repair and inspection of the axial bearing.

    摘要: A bearing assembly includes a bearing base and a plurality of tiltable shoes. A ceramic plate is bonded to each shoe and a face surface of each ceramic plate provides a bearing face. Tilting movement of the shoes relative to the bearing base provides a fluid lubrication film wedge between the bearing faces and the running surface of a moving load. The ceramic plates are separately produced and are bonded to the surface of the shoes, which are formed of relatively soft material, by adhesive, soldering, welding or sintering. The running surface of the load may be formed of a ceramic layer. The ceramic plates are formed of silicon carbide which is fiber reinforced.

    摘要: An equalizing tilting pad thrust bearing assembly with inner and outer concentric retaining rings supporting an array of upper and lower equalizing links which support a circular array of tilting bearing pads. Each tilting pad has a flat bottom surface supported by a raised radial cylindrical surface on the upper side of an upper equalizing link. The pads tilt circumferentially to develop a hydrodynamic lubricating wedge by rolling on the radius of the raised cylindrical surface of an upper equalizing link. Each bearing pad and its supporting upper equalizing link tilt together radially by rolling on the radius of two slightly crowned radial cylinders on the bottom surface of the upper link. Each upper link pivots circumferentially about a stub radial pin extending inward from the outer retaining ring which engages an axial slot in the upper link. Each lower equalizing link is supported by and pivots circumferentially about a radial pin whose opposite ends are fixed in the inner and outer retaining rings. The axes of the upper and lower link pivot pins and the interconnecting contact points all lie in a common plane when the equalizing links are in a position of zero pivoting angle. The inner and outer retaining rings are concentricly connected by radial spokes that serve as pad separators and direct fresh oil into the hydrodynamic oil film by means of grooves in the spokes.

    摘要: The bearing pads of a hydrodynamic tilting pad thrust bearing are cut from a ring and arranged in a circle within a retainer for bearing the load of a collar fastened to a rotating shaft. The leading and trailing edges of respective adjacent pads contain open edge grooves which together form a pocket for receiving and dispensing lubricating and cooling oil under controlled conditions. Semicircular grooves in the edges of the adjacent pads together form generally circular ducts through which the oil is conducted to the pockets.

    摘要: A thrust bearing particularly suitable for use with a vertical shaft machine has a rotating ring mounted to the shaft for rotation with the shaft and having a downwardly directed bearing surface. A base ring is positioned around the shaft and fixedly mounted to a machine foundation. A plurality of segmented bearing shoes extend around the shaft and have upwardly directed bearing surfaces for bearing engagement with the bearing surface of the rotating ring. Each shoe is supported from the base ring by a plurality of hydraulic elements which in one form are cylinders fixed to the base ring with pistons extending axially therefrom to engage the respective bearing shoe. Each cylinder is connected to a manifold to provide to each cylinder a hydraulic fluid under pressure. Because the source is common, each cylinder has hydraulic fluid at the same pressure. The hydraulic elements (cylinders and pistons) for each shoe, are distributed or arranged in a pattern which provides a substantially planar surface to each bearing shoe under load.
