    摘要: A multilayer antiballistic structure having good antiballistic properties comprises a first layer which comprises ceramic tiles and a second layer of composite material which comprises polyalkene filaments having a tensile modulus of at least 40 GPa and a tensile strength of at least 1 GPa and a matrix which at least partially surrounds the polyalkene filaments, while the antiballistic structure comprises, between the first and the second layer an intermediate layer of a material having a flexural modulus which is higher than the flexural modulus of the composite material of the second layer and is lower than the flexural modulus of the ceramic material.Good results are obtained if the intermediate layer comprises a composite material.

    摘要: A composite protective body suitable, among others, for making protective garments comprises a pliable flat case with at least one panel of soft ballistic material, and an insert within the case. The insert is composed of a plurality of consituent bodies of glass or ceramic material. The constituent bodies of the insert are of axisymmetrical or centrosymmetrical shape and of a size commensurate with that of the kinetic missiles against which protection is to be afforded. The bodies are arranged in at least two superimposed layers in each of which the constituent bodies are spaced from each other by a distance smaller than the size of a body with each body in one layer bridging a gap between two bodies of the adjacent layer. Each constituent body of the insert is glued to all surrounding bodies by thermoplastic or thermosetting material.

    摘要: A spall shield for armor plate for restraining at least a portion of flying fragments resulting from impact of a projectile with said armor plate, comprises a plasticized resin of the type commonly used as an interlayer of safety plate glass such as for example, plasticized polyvinyl acetal resin or plasticized polyvinyl butyral resin. The novel spall shield replaces nylon cloth, rubber, felt or resin impregnated glass fabric of the prior art while being at least as thin and light as the adhesive commonly used to adhere such prior art spall shield materials to the armor plate. The spall shield of the present invention is substantially lower in weight and substantially more efficient in performance than conventional spall shields.

    摘要: Multi-impact multi-layer body armor is presented. A first layer is a single layer of front covering material. A second layer, is a ballistic ceramic plate formed of a plurality of curved smaller ceramic tiles that are bonded together using a structural adhesive. A third layer formed of one or a plurality of aramid layers such as Kevlar® XP. A fourth layer formed of a rigid backing plate, formed of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene such as Spectra Shield®. A fifth layer is a single layer of rear covering material. Thus, an improved body armor is presented which is inexpensive to produce, light, durable and can sustain multiple impacts.
