摘要: An armor plate damage detection and testing system is disclosed that uses an initial electrical signal to generate mechanical energy waves that travel across the armor plate and reflect off the plate surfaces, wherein the reflections of those waves are recorded and analyzed with reference to a previously stored wave reflection signature to determine if damage has occurred to the armor plate. The analyzed results are communicated to the user in real time using a display unit and can further be communicated to a remote entity through an incorporated wireless transmitter.

摘要: In an embodiment, a hybrid slat armor configured for protecting a body against a threat having an anticipated impact direction. The hybrid slat armor comprises a plurality of slat units, each extending along a first longitudinal direction, the units being spaced apart along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. Each slat unit has a strike end configured for facing the anticipated impact direction, a rear end opposite the strike end, a top set of piercing elements and a bottom set of piercing elements. The piercing elements of each set are successively arranged along the longitudinal direction of the slat unit at the strike end thereof and are spaced apart in the longitudinal direction; The piecing elements of the top set are spaced from the piercing elements of the bottom set in the second longitudinal direction to a distance which is considerably smaller than that between adjacent slat-units.

摘要: An interleaving hexagonal tile (AHT) is provided for incorporation onto a liner in an array for a personnel armor clothing article. The AHT includes a hexagonally-symmetric solid object composed of a homogeneous material. The object includes a geometry that has obverse and reverse planar surfaces parallel to each other. Each planar surface has triangularly disposed terminals. First and second triple sets of oblique surfaces are disposed between the obverse and reverse planar surfaces. A plurality of facets is disposed substantially perpendicular to the planar surfaces. The facets connect between edges of the planar surfaces and adjacent edges of the oblique surfaces. The first and second triple sets of oblique surfaces are disposed to alternate with each other.

摘要: Seam protected encapsulated arrays of solid ceramic elements are disclosed. Vulnerable seams between solid ceramic elements arranged adjacent to each other in encapsulated arrays of solid ceramic elements are protected by a seam protector arranged in-line with the vulnerable seams and fixed to the encapsulated array. A stiffener may be arranged in-line with the vulnerable seams and fixed to the encapsulated array opposite to the seam protector. The solid ceramic elements may be encapsulated in a barrier material to prevent the base metal from reacting with the ceramic material units during casting, and/or provide crush/compression protection during cooling.

摘要: An armor panel provides a continuous armored strike face defined within a periphery. The panel is manufactured from a composite material having a plurality of armor tiles embedded in a polymeric matrix that is structurally reinforced by a layer of fiber fabric. The armored strike face may be contoured to accommodate the base upon which it will be mounted. In some applications, an armor system is assembled from at least two of the armor panels. In such a system, at least a portion of the periphery of each armor panel defines an internal seam edge of the armor system. Each such periphery portion is in a lapping relationship with the corresponding internal seam edge of another armor panel.
