Abstract: An optical fiber ribbon is disclosed. The optical fiber ribbon includes first and second optical fibers arranged in parallel, and at least one coupling member made of a resin material. The coupling member couples the first and second optical fibers by adhering the first and second optical fibers each other intermittently in a longitudinal direction of the first and second optical fibers. A breaking elongation of the resin material constituting the coupling member is equal to or more than 200% and equal to or less than 500%.

Abstract: The present embodiment achieves effective height reduction of an entire optical connection component constituted by a bent optical fiber and a fiber fixing component. The fiber fixing component includes a first portion and a second portion which constitute the holding portion in a state of being arranged in a manner interposing an installation plane in order to hold one of non-bent sections positioned at both ends of a bent portion in a state where the one of non-bent sections is arranged on the installation plane. Total lengths of the first portion and the second portion are different from each other, and effective height reduction of the entire optical connection component can be achieved by arranging the bent portion in a stepped portion formed by the total length difference.

The fiber optic connector includes a multi-fiber ferrule defining a major axis that is generally perpendicular to the major axis of the jacket and a minor axis that is generally perpendicular to the minor axis of the jacket. Certain types of connectors include a connector body defining a side opening that extends along a length of the connector body; a multi-fiber ferrule configured for lateral insertion into the connector body through the side opening; and a cover that mounts over the side opening after the multi-fiber ferrule has been inserted into the connector body through the side opening.

Abstract: A method for splicing a first optical fiber ribbon cable to a second optical fiber ribbon cable includes separating an end of the first optical fiber ribbon cable into loose optical fibers, and re-ribbonizing the loose optical fibers into a ribbonized end having a second pitch different from the first pitch of the original first optical fiber ribbon cable. The method further includes inserting the ribbonized end into a mass fusion splicer having the second pitch, and splicing the ribbonized end to the end of the second optical fiber ribbon cable using the mass fusion splicer.

A tubed portion (120) of the ribbon stack (110) is surrounded and twisted by the interior (310) of the fiber guide tube (300) from the first end (302) to the second end (304) of the fiber guide tube (300).

The exemplary sealing device has a body having an open end and a closed end, wherein the closed end includes a removable portion and a pulling device to facilitate removal of the exemplary sealing device from a port structure. In one aspect, the exemplary sealing device is a single part made of a resilient material, while an alternative aspect, the exemplary sealing device includes a rigid connection portion disposed within the open end of the body. The exemplary device can be used as a dust cap or plug prior to making a service connection and/or it can be used as a port/cable sealing device after the service connection is made.
