Abstract: A database system comprising a database comprising a plurality of data storage nodes, the plurality of data storage nodes including a primary storage node and a plurality of secondary storage nodes. The database system may also include at least one processor configured to: perform at least one write command to a secondary storage node of the plurality of secondary storage nodes; and perform at least one backup command, at least partially in parallel with the at least one write command being performed to the secondary storage node, of at least some data from a snapshot of data stored in the secondary storage node. A method for performing at least one backup command in a database at least partially in parallel with the at least one write command being performed.

Abstract: A storage manager for an information management system determines whether one or more predetermined conditions have been met for transferring metadata of previously performed backup jobs stored in a first management database. A backup job may correspond to a backup operation of a primary storage device of a first client computing device. In response to a determination that one or more of the predetermined conditions have been met, the storage manager may transfer metadata for a second plurality of backup jobs to a second management database of a recovery manager. The recovery manager may receive a request to restore data to the primary storage device of the first client computing device based on the metadata of the second plurality of backup jobs. A media agent managed by the recovery manager may then restore the requested data to the primary storage device of the first client computing device.

Abstract: Described is a system for synchronizing expiration times for incremental backup data stored on a cloud-based object storage. More particularly, the system may provide a layer of intelligence when updating the expiration times associated with backup data to ensure that a full recovery of the client data to a point-in-time of any incremental backup may be performed. To provide such a capability, the system may maintain specialized metadata identifying expiration times for objects and a list of objects required to perform a full recovery to a point-in-time for each of the performed backups (e.g. full or incremental). The system may access this metadata to identify which objects stored by a previous backup are still referenced by a subsequent backup. Based on the identified objects, the system may synchronize object expiration times to ensure objects are not prematurely deleted from the object storage.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to providing data views from a time-series data lake to a data warehousing system. In various embodiments, the disclosed techniques include providing, by a cloud-based service, a data lake service that maintains a time-series data lake storing a time-series representation of data from a plurality of data sources associated with a first organization. In some embodiments, the cloud-based service may receive additional backup data, including a first backup image of a first data source, associated with the first organization as part of a backup operation. The cloud-based service may then store a logical backup of the first data source in the data lake and, in response to a query from a data warehousing system, the cloud-based service may retrieve a particular view of the backup data from the data lake and provide it to the data warehousing system.

Abstract: Techniques disclosed herein are well suited to restoring deduplicated backup data from cloud-based storage and from multi-node replicated files systems, and they also improve performance in more traditional data storage technologies. Pre-restore steps include analysis of deduplication indexes to identify data segments that are stored consecutively on storage media. Reading data in aggregate runs of consecutively stored data segments reduces interactions with storage media that hosts the deduplicated data and speeds up retrieval. Parallel reads from multiple storage devices in multi-node replicated file systems also speed up retrieval. An illustrative enhanced media agent pre-fetches data (stored in deduplicated form) in anticipation of read requests that are expected in the restore operation. The pre-fetched data is temporarily stored locally at the media agent, which is responsible for interfacing with storage media and is further responsible for orchestrating the disclosed techniques within an illustrative data storage management system.

Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods for configuring replication group objects. A system includes at least one hardware processor coupled to memory and configured to decode a replication request received from a client device of a data provider. The replication request indicates a plurality of account objects for replication. The plurality of account objects associated with a corresponding plurality of account object types. A replication group object is generated based on the replication request. The replication group object includes a manifest. The manifest lists the plurality of account objects. The replication of the plurality of account objects is performed from a source account of the data provider into at least one target account. The replication is based on the manifest of the replication group object.

Abstract: A backup policy including user-configured options for backing up a cluster of virtual machines is reviewed. Configuration details for the cluster is obtained from a virtual machine manager of the cluster. An evaluation is made as to whether host-level data movers that run inside hypervisors of hosts of the cluster support the user-configured options in the backup policy and the configuration details of the cluster. If the host-level data movers are supported, the host-level data movers are installed into the hypervisors running on the hosts of the cluster. If the host-level data movers are not supported, one or more of in-guest data movers that run as guests inside the virtual machines to be backed up or backup proxy data movers that run as separate virtual machines and outside the virtual machines to be backed up are provisioned.

Abstract: A data protection method for protecting backup data stored in a data backup device is executed by a mobile device. When the mobile device is included in a trust circle of the data backup device, the mobile device can receive a certified signal, can execute a file manager of a backup APP for loading the backup data, and can generate a first invitation code. Otherwise, the mobile device cannot access the backup data, and displays a code input menu for inputting a second invitation code. The data backup device can certify the first invitation code and the second invitation code for determining whether the mobile device can be added into the trust circle of the data backup device. Therefore, the mobile device included in the trust circle can access the backup data, and the privacy of the backup data can be secured.
