摘要: Apparatus for interactive display of any portion of a spherical image preferably comprises a personal computer or other digital processor apparatus for storing digital data representative of at least one image having a 180 degree or greater field of view (or hemispherical image). In order to view a selected image portion without warp or distortion at the seam between opposite hemispherical images, edge filtering is applied to eliminate a halo effect. Moreover, an opposite hemispherical image may either be obtained by creating a mirror image of a first hemispherical image or by capturing a second hemispherical image by means of an oppositely directed camera and storing the digital image. Equations for image transformation are based on a lens' characteristics including the lens' radius R. An input interface preferably comprises a display including a magnification region and a directional cursor for pointing the direction to a next spherical image. “Hot spots” can be linked to audio, text, graphics, or other media or trigger a charge for a pay event or identify program links to the next spherical image.

摘要: A surveillance system that includes a number of camera subsystems. Each camera subsystem includes a number of single lens cameras pointing in different directions which simultaneously capture images. Each camera subsystem covers a particular theater of interest. Each single lens camera captures an image of a particular region in a particular theater. When an object of interest is identified, the system can follow the object as it moves between regions and theaters in a facility. When an object is being followed, the system can provide a view of the object as it transitions between regions covered different single lens cameras in a particular camera subsystem and as it transitions between theaters covered by different camera subsystems.

摘要: Most camera systems only record an image from a limited viewing angle. A new panoramic camera apparatus is disclosed that instantaneously captures a 360 degree panoramic image. In the camera device, virtually all of the light that converges on a point in space is captured. Specifically, in the camera of the present invention, light striking this point in space is captured if it comes from any direction, 360 degrees around the point and from angles 50 degrees or more above and below the horizon. The panoramic image is recorded as a two dimensional annular image. Furthermore, various different systems for displaying the panoramic images and distributing the panoramic images. Specifically, methods and apparatus for digitally performing a geometric transformation of the two dimensional annular image into rectangular projections such that the panoramic image can be displayed using conventional methods such as printed images and televised images.

摘要: Optical systems are disclosed that enable an image sensor to generate an image of either a wide-angle view of an area of interest, or a direct view of an area of interest. In an embodiment, a wide-angle optical system is mounted to reflect radiation reflected from the area of interest along an optical axis. Radiation on the optical axis is directed to a zoom lens of the image sensor. Optionally, a planar mirror redirects the radiation, so that the optical axis is angled with respect to a central axis of the image sensor. In the preferred embodiment, the image sensor is a pan-tilt-zoom camera that can move from the wide-angle view to a direct view of a target or region of interest, using pan, tilt, and zoom controls, under either remote or automatic control. The disclosure also provides a method for maintaining registration of the image sensor when it is moved from a wide-angle view of a target to a direct view of a target.

摘要: An audio/video surveillance recording system comprising both units having a video camera and units having a dummy lens is disclosed. The use of a dummy lens rather than tinted or mirrored glass on the camera housing provides a greater amount of light to the camera. A unique mounting assembly which lets the dummy units be substituted for the live units without removing the mounting brackets is also disclosed. Both the dummy and live units have illuminated indicators. The system uses weatherproof microphones manufactured using a novel plastic dipping and coating method.

摘要: A panoramic imaging system, for monitoring a space, comprises a single camera and a dome-like convex mirror. The camera is mounted relative to the mirror so that at least most of the surface of the mirror is within the field of view of the camera. The mirror has an elevation gain, .alpha., greater than 3 and a profile which (a) ensures that radiation from at least most of the space is reflected by the mirror onto the image plane of the camera, and (b) satisfied the relationship, in polar co-ordinates, SinA+0.5(1+.alpha.).theta.!=C.r.-0.5(1+.alpha.)! where C is a constant and A specifies the inclination of the profile to the optical axis of the camera at the point on the mirror which is closest to the aperture lens of the camera. The camera may be an electronic camera having a charge coupled device (CCD) sensor at its image plane, and the processed image of the space produced by the camera may be displayed on a monitor screen as a dewarped image. A motion sensing algorithm may be included in the image processing system of the electronic camera to generate an alarm when motion is sensed in the space.
