摘要： A method and device for emptying a belt reel or bobbin filled with tobacco leaves or portions thereof, the belt being withdrawn from the bobbin and wound on a reel, while each time the tobacco leaf portions are removed from the corresponding strip of belt, wherein prior to the removal of each tobacco leaf portion the belt is stretched in excess of the normal tensile force required for winding off the belt in order to detach the tobacco leaf portion from the belt, which additional stretching effect need only be very slight in order to pick up all tobacco leaf portions without disturbance.

摘要： A low inertia rotary drum transport for flexible sheets, the drum rotating at a relatively low speed for loading a sheet, rapidly accelerating to a relatively high speed for processing the sheet, then rapidly decelerating to the relatively low speed for unloading the sheet. A gate and conveyor are controlled to supply the sheet to the drum in precise registration. Vacuum apparatus and a charge corona are provided for attaching the sheet to the drum, the vacuum attaching the leading portion of the sheet, the corona charging the middle portion of the sheet to hold the sheet to the drum by electrostatic attraction, and the vacuum attaching the trailing portion of the sheet. Air pressure apparatus detaches the leading portion of the sheet for unloading.

摘要： A transfer type electrophotographic copying apparatus for high speed copying system which includes a photoconductive photoreceptor in the form of an endless belt and movably suspended by a plurality of rollers so as to provide a plurality of flat surfaces. A flat portion which is formed on the photoreceptor belt facing a transfer corona charger and which is directed approximately parallel to a path of a copy paper sheet is effective for shortening the length of the paper path and for improving transferred images, while blower means disposed in a fixing device is adapted to assist in the separation of the copied paper from the photoreceptor belt in normal copying operation, and to direct cooling air to the fixing device in case of paper jamming. Heat shielding means is disposed between the fixing device and the photoreceptor belt.

摘要： The self-stripping action of a copy sheet from an imaging suface after transfer in electrostatographic copying is substantially increased by slightly curving the imaging surface transverse their mutual direction of movement to provide a slight corresponding crown in the copy sheet on the imaging surface at the stripping area where the imaging surface is curved away from the path of the copy sheet in their direction of movement. Examples of the imaging surface are a substantially cylindrical photoreceptor surface with a uniform slight continuous crown, or a flexible belt slightly deformed over a crowned support roller.

摘要： An adhesive paper pick-off apparatus for lifting and guiding a sheet of paper from a supply stack or the like or adhereing to a photoreceptor layer of an electrostatographic copying machine. The apparatus includes an adhesive tape supply which may be housed in a cartridge having a wall with one or more open windows. The apparatus is positioned relative to the supply stack or photoreceptor layer so that the exposed side of the paper comes in contact with one side of the window. The apparatus includes means for pressure contacting the sticky side of the tape to the paper from the cartridge through the window for lifting the paper from the supply stack or the photoreceptor layer and the like. Preferably, the window is screened with a mesh of fine wires or filaments with openings large enough to allow contact of the tape to the paper, but small enough to prevent the paper from deforming into the openings and is of a design that helps the release of the adhesive tape from the paper when the tape is retracted. Preferably, the wires or filaments are made of a nonsticky substance such as teflon or silicon rubber so that the adhesive tape does not stick to them and they do not collect lint from the paper. The apparatus is provided with means for advancing the adhesive tape supply to bring a fresh portion of the sticky side of the adhesive tape as a used portion begins to loose its stickiness due to the lint collected from the surfaces of the sheets.

摘要： In a system employing a rotating magnetic head drum and a plurality of magnetic cards retained in a cartridge, a braking means which stops the motion of a card as it is transported from the cartridge to a fixed, predetermined position around the drum''s periphery. The brake comprises a plate having a plurality of holes therein with a partial vacuum being formed on a first side of the plate. A pick-off means picks off the leading edge of card as it is being transported from the cartridge to its fixed position around the drum and diverts said card along a path adjacent the second side of said plate. The partial vacuum effect pulls the card into friction contact with said plate and thereby slows its motion. A stop bar is positioned to completely stop the motion of the card after it has been slowed down substantially by the plate.
