摘要: Rubber-like products are made by heat-curing, with or without pressure, a mixture of an interpolymer of ethylene and a vinyl organic ester which has been hydrolysed at a temperature below 400 DEG C., sulphur or a material capable of liberating sulphur, a Group II metal oxide and, if desired, a rubber vulcanization accelerator. Pyrolysis and curing may be carried out simultaneously. Interpolymers specified are those with vinyl acetate, propionate, butyrate, acrylate and methacrylate. Pyrolysis, resulting in removal of acyloxy groups, is preferably conducted in an inert gas, e.g. nitrogen, a solvent, e.g. benzene, chlorbenzene or toluene. Vulcanization accelerators specified are 2-mercaptothiazoline, diphenylguanidine, piperidinium pentamethylenethiocarbamate, benzothiazyl disulphide, mercaptobenzothiazole, tetramethylthiuram mono- and disulphides, tetraethylthiuram disulphide, tetramethyl-, tetraethyl-, dipentamethylene-, di-(phenylmethyl) and di-(phenylethyl)-thiuram tetrasulphide. The thiuram tetrasulphide accelerators liberate sulphur during the curing process. The metal oxide may be zinc, magnesium, calcium or barium oxides. Optical additions are fillers, e.g. carbon black, lubricants, e.g. stearic or abietic acid, antioxidants, stabilizers, e.g. benzoyl peroxide and blowing agents. Specifications 497,643 and 578,584 are referred to.
