The grippers have two gripper claws pivotable against each other as well as a locking mechanism for fixing the gripper claws in their closed posture. Each gripper has opposed openings for a lateral insertion and extraction of a tool post. Operating elements are provided for pivoting the two gripper claws during the insertion and extraction of a tool post through one of the two openings.
Abstract:
A machine tool consists in a pair of slide ways set apart one from another and extending parallel with a longitudinal axis, a machining station between the slide ways, presenting a first zone and a second zone adjacent one to the other, and a traveling gantry set in motion along the slide ways and carrying a machining head positionable in the first and second zones. Installed alongside at least one of the slide ways and containing a supply of tools attachable to the machining head is a magazine equipped with a first changer element positioned to coincide with the first zone of the station, and a second changer element positioned to coincide with the second zone, so that whichever of the two zones the machining head happens to occupy at any given moment, the tool currently in use can be replaced with a tool from the magazine by the relative changer element with minimal loss of time.
Abstract:
A tool changing device for a tool machine having a tool spindle which can be moved at least in the spindle direction and with which a tool can be engaged in a spindle hand-over position. A tool magazine/storage area houses a tool to be changed in a magazine ready position with an orientation diverging from the spindle direction. A transport device is fitted with a tool holder which, by means of an operating device provided with a driving guide/guide path, swivels the tool about a swiveling axis during its transport from the ready position in the tool magazine and an orientation parallel to the spindle direction. The transport device is designed for an entire transport path between the magazine ready position and a spindle hand-over position. The transport device is aligned with the rotation axis of the stored tool. The swiveling axis runs perpendicularly to the transport direction and the spindle axis.
Abstract:
The present invention involves a tool changer for removal and installation of tools in a machining center having a machine tool with a spindle for holding a tool disposed within the machining center frame. The tool changer comprises a tool rack having a plurality of locations for holding tools, and an arm structured and arranged to be movable between the plurality of locations and a position which is capable of accessing a spindle of the machining center. Each tool holding location farther comprises a fork, which has a plurality of prongs. The movable arm has two grippers and one of the two grippers is disposed at an angle of about 90° relative to the other of the two grippers. The movable arm also is associated with rotational, vertical, and horizontal movement mechanisms. The rotational mechanism includes a motor, a pulley associated with the motor, a belt attached to the motor and the pulley, and a gear wheel attached to the belt with a limit switch for sensing one of the locations on the gear wheel. The vertical mechanism includes a vertical shaft and a cylinder capable of moving the movable arm vertically. The horizontal mechanism includes a linear track and a cylinder capable of moving the movable arm laterally. The frame further includes an access door located proximate the tool holding locations and sized to allow for manual access to one of the tool holding locations. The access door also has at least one location for holding a tool. The tool changer further comprises a cylinder actuated door which allows for the arm to access the spindle.
Abstract:
A tool changer for machine tools is capable of transferring a tool transfer pot with a stroke smaller than the transfer distance of the tool transfer pot. The tool changer for a combined machining lathe includes a tool magazine having a multiplicity of tools and serving for transferring and indexing a next-process tool to a specified tool takeout position. A tool transfer mechanism transfers the next-process tool positioned in the tool takeout position or the tool delivery position to a tool changing position. A tool changing mechanism changes a process-completed tool loaded on a tool post body with the next-process tool positioned in the tool changing position. The tool transfer mechanism comprises a transfer arm pivotally disposed between the tool delivery position and the tool changing position. A tool transfer pot is coupled to a front-end portion of the transfer arm and serves to support the next-process tool.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a composite processing machine designed so as to be movable in a longitudinal and lateral direction on the side of a work table so that cutting process, discharge process, electrolytic grinding process and the like may be accomplished by a single machine, comprising means for moving a work table (1) on a machine bed (2) in a direction of x-axis and y-axis, a processing unit (9) having a chuck (14) capable of being detachably engaged with various tools and a discharge electrode at the fore end of a spindle (1) positioned upwardly of the work table (1) and comprising a motor (15) for rotating spindle and a fixing brake (12), means for moving a processing unit (9) in a direction of z-axis, an auto tool changer (18) for holding a cutting tool, a discharge electrode, a measuring probe, a grinding wheel and the like to selectively feed them to the chuck, and a processing power source (22) connected over a discharge electrode (26) or a grinding wheel (51) mounted on the chuck (14) and a work (4) within the liquid tank or a nozzle (50) for coolent to apply a dc current to a processing power source (22).
Abstract:
A machine tool comprising a spindle head, a tool magazine, and an arm, the arm being secured to the spindle head, the arm having gripping members for holding a tool holder. When a workpiece is machined, the arm in which gripping members are opened is placed near the spindle. As soon as machining is completed, the grip members are closed so as to hold the tool holder set into the spindle. The end face of the spindle and the end face of the tool magazine stand at different levels when the spindle head is located in tool changing position. When a used tool is returned to the tool magazine, the arm operates in the following steps: first, the arm grips the used tool set into the spindle; second, the arm is moved so as to draw the tool from the spindle; and third, the arm is swiveled so as to return the tool to the tool magazine.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a flexible manufacturing unit with at least two machine tools (1,2) and a transport device (9) movable in rectangular coordinates having receptacles for carriers (8) holding workpieces and for the tools (6). The invention consists in that the transport device (9) is numerically controlled, that the tools (6) are individually transportable between a tool buffer store (29) and the machine tools (1,2) and that tool magazines (5) integrated with the machine tools are provided, which tool magazines are also accessible for tool exchange during the working period of the machine tools (1,2). In this way, a rapid method of operation is possible which is independent of the cycle and permits free selection.
