摘要: A tool changer for machine tools, the tool changer having at least one rotatable tool gripper, a supporting column for the tool gripper which can be lifted and lowered and rotated about a rotational axis, a mechanical cam gear for generating the lifting and rotating movements of the tool gripper, all driven by a drive motor connected to a cam barrel and intermediate gearing. The cam barrel has a tappet for the rotational drive of the tool gripper on its upper front and a cam curve or groove on its peripheral surface for the lifting movement of the tool gripper. The tappet drives a Maltese wheel supported on a shaft parallel to the rotational axis of the tool gripper. The Maltese wheel, the cam barrel, and the supporting column of the tool gripper are successively supported in a manner parallel to the axis.

摘要: A machine tool consists in a pair of slide ways set apart one from another and extending parallel with a longitudinal axis, a machining station between the slide ways, presenting a first zone and a second zone adjacent one to the other, and a traveling gantry set in motion along the slide ways and carrying a machining head positionable in the first and second zones. Installed alongside at least one of the slide ways and containing a supply of tools attachable to the machining head is a magazine equipped with a first changer element positioned to coincide with the first zone of the station, and a second changer element positioned to coincide with the second zone, so that whichever of the two zones the machining head happens to occupy at any given moment, the tool currently in use can be replaced with a tool from the magazine by the relative changer element with minimal loss of time.

摘要: In a tool changer system comprising one or more tool grippers together with a pressure foot insert change pod supported on a U-V slide which is independent of the machine work table. The slide services a tool magazine mounted on the machine tool in close proximity to the work table. Because the tool changer is independent of the machine table, the selection and retrieval of the next tool to be used is performed while the machine tool is working in a work cycle. Similarly, the replacement of the used tool back into its storage location is also performed while the machine tool is working. Exchange of the pressure foot insert is also done as part of the tool change process in part during the tool change work cycle. Time is saved because the machine tool work need not be interrupted and the machine tool table need not be moved to accommodate the tool change. In addition, adjustment of tool tip positioning may also be accomplished off line during the machine tool cycle by control of a tool gripper with multiple positions which allows the tool to be dropped to an adjustment pad and gripped at a known distance. When the tool is ultimately inserted into the spindle the position of the tip of the tool is known with precision.

摘要: A tool changer system is disclosed comprising one or more tool grippers together with a pressure foot insert change pod supported on a U-V slide which is independent of the machine work table. The slide services a tool magazine mounted on the machine tool in close proximity to the work table. Because the tool changer is independent of the machine table, the selection and retrieval of the next tool to be used is performed while the machine tool is working. Similarly, the replacement of the tool back into its storage location is done while the machine tool is working. The exchanging of the pressure foot insert is done as part of the tool change process. Time is saved because the work table does not have to be moved to position the tool changer under the spindle. In fact, the work table may be moved to the next work location while the tool changer changes the tool in the spindle. An alternative embodiment of this invention avoids complex adjustment of certain types of tools when loading the same into the machine spindle where the precise location of the tool tip is unknown. Such adjustment occurs whenever tools without positioning collars are stored in the magazine. The instant invention permits such adjustment "off line" while the machine tool is working on an work piece by including a new dual piston gripper mechanism and a coarse axial adjustment pad thereby saving additional time and increasing the output of the machine. Also shown in the patent is a cartridge for tool magazines which accepts the EURO cassette without the need to separately unload tools from the cassette and load the typical tool cartridge.

摘要: A simple and efficient tool exchanger device is presented. The device has a pair of swing arms (8, 9), and each swing arm is provided with a set of grippers (11, 12) for holding a tool bit. The positions of the swing arms (8, 9) are separated by 90 degree so that they will not interfere with each other during the swinging motion. One driving device (2) is provided to operate both swing arms (8, 9) and operate the gripper devices (11, 12). The swing arm (8) rotates upwards to remove a used tool bit (10) from the machining shaft (21) of a machining center and the other swing arm (9) is rotated downwards to install a new tool bit (10') in the vacated machining shaft in a single simultaneous step.

摘要: An automatic tool changer for use on a machine tool which moves tools in combinations of rectilinear movements between a spindle at a machine head and a rectangular array of compartments, parallel to the spindle axis, at a storage magazine. The storage magazine is mounted on the support of the machine tool to move in unison with the machine head, and includes a plurality of drawers which move at right angles to a pair of tool forks for transferring tools to and from the forks. The forks are independently linearly movable on a carriage which moves between the storage magazine and the machine head. One tool fork carries tools exclusively from the magazine to the spindle, and the other tool fork carries tools exclusively from the spindle to the magazine. The entire tool changer is movable relative to the machine head to insert tools into and withdraw tools from the spindle.

In the tool replacement system, programs pertaining to the sequence of operation and operation time of operating tools 7 are established, wherein, when the operation time of individual tools 7 is shorter than the conveyance time for reciprocation of the tool conveyance apparatus 3 between the tool magazine 1 and the tool replacement arm 4, the object can be solved by realizing transfer of at least a part of the tools planned to be operated in a next process of the corresponding individual tools 7 to the tool replacement arm 4 after the tools are arranged to the intermediate magazine 5.

The tool chucking unit (41) is provided with a tool fastening mechanism (42) for fastening the tool chucking mechanism (24), and the tool unchucking unit (51) is provided with a tool loosening mechanism (52) for loosening the tool chucking mechanism (24). The tool delivery mechanism (61) delivers the tool positioned at a tool delivery position from the tool storage device into the tool fastening mechanism of the tool chucking unit so that the tool is held by the tool fastening mechanism, and delivers the tool retrieved by the tool unchucking unit from the tool unchucking unit to the tool storage device so that the tool is stored by the tool storage device.

摘要: The invention relates to a machine tool on which an extra working head can be exchanged readily. The machine tool comprises a main beam extending horizontally in leftward and rightward directions, a carrier mounted for leftward and rightward movement on the main beam, a ram mounted for upward and downward sliding movement on the carrier, at least one standing working head mounted for upward and downward movement on the carrier, a plurality of head holders, an extra working head held on each of the head holders, a sub beam extending in forward and backward directions and having a front portion and a rear portion defining therebetween a gap adjacent an end of the main beam, first guide means provided on the front and rear portions of the sub beam for guiding the head holders for the extra working heads in a forwardly and backwardly juxtaposed relationship for forward and backward sliding movement thereon, a carriage mounted on the sub beam for slidably moving the head holders along the first guide means, and second guide means provided on the ram for carrying a single head holder thereon.
