    摘要: A method for ejecting sheet metal parts from a press, the press comprising a stationary core die portion and a movable punching die portion driven during a working stroke towards and during a return stroke away from the core die portion by driving means, a drawing member encircling the movable punching die portion, a circular or annular portion of said movable punching die portion being biased by spring means, ejection means associated with the press between the dead center of the strokes, the ejection being adapted to move a part laterally out of the travel path of the movable punching die portion by a laterally directed force. The method comprises the steps of punching and molding the parts by the cooperation of the movable punching die portion and the core die portion during a working stroke. A part is taken along with the movable punching die portion during the return stroke by a vacuum between the punching die portion and the part. The vacuum is built-up at the latest at the beginning of the return stroke. The vacuum is reduced after a given length of the return stroke such that the vacuum still exerts a suction force on the part at a position of the travel path where the ejection means is located, however, is safely overcome by the force of the ejection means.

    摘要: In a ram press for manufacturing shells for can ends, a relatively flat shell is transferred from a tooling station to a destination. The shell is supported at the first station from the upper tooling work surface, from which it is propelled in edgewise fashion into a transfer path. The transfer path is at least partially enclosed and extends from an entrance adjacent the first station tooling toward the shell destination. An air assist mechanism is provided for acting upon the shell moving into and along the path, and includes an outlet conduit connected to a supply of air under pressure. The conduit includes an open outlet end. A valve is disposed the outlet conduit for controlling flow of air along said conduit. The outlet conduit is disposed with its outlet end at one side of the entrance to the transfer path, with the end positioned in a direction into the path, whereby air is directed along said path in the direction of movement of the object. The air facilitates movement of the shell along the path.

The apparatus includes a die pad riser attached to the pad and to a pressure sleeve, both of which are movable in response to movement of the punch during a portion of the travel of the punch. The pressure sleeve is secured to the die pad riser so that the spacing between the punch and the die pad is maintained during such movement.

    摘要: An apparatus transports a workpiece to be shaped into a wheel rim between a pair of similar rim-shaping machines having respective parallel working axes and each open to receive the workpiece only parallel to the respective axis. The apparatus has a table displaceable parallel to the axes and in a transport direction transverse thereto, at least two similar workpiece holders spaced apart in the transport direction on the table, and a guide pin projecting vertically from the table. A guide engages the pin and defines therefor a generally U-shaped transport path having two straight legs extending parallel to the axes, a straight bight extending parallel to the direction, and a pair of rounded corners connecting the respective legs to the bight. An actuator or drive displaces the pin and table connected therewith along the path and the table is maintained parallel to the direction during travel of the pin along the path.

    摘要: A punch assembly for punching a workpiece comprising a unitary stripper spring assembly that can be adjustably fastened to a punch. The unitary stripper spring assembly includes a threaded head which engages a threaded end of the punch so the effective length of the punch can be varied after sharpening by simply turning the unitary stripper spring assembly relative to the punch. The punch is fastened to the unitary stripper spring assembly only at the head. The unitary stripper spring assembly further includes a washer, and a telescopic retainer enclosed in a stripper spring between the head and the washer. The telescopic retainer responds to the force exerted on the punch assembly by the ram of a punching device by contracting during the punching stroke. After the punching stroke the stripper spring expands to strip the punch from the workpiece and the stripper spring assembly returns to its normal position. The unitary stripper spring assembly forms a discrete and integral mechanism independent of the punch. The punch assembly of the present invention achieves a simple one step adjustment of the effective punch length without the use of special tools or any disassembly of the unitary stripper spring assembly, even after repeated sharpening of the punch. Also, a punch guide having a retainer device for attaching the punch guide to the punch forms part of the present invention.
