    摘要: A seal system and method are provided to protect a double-tube vehicle driveshaft, having first and second members containing intermeshing splined portions, from premature wear or corrosion. The seal system comprises first and second splined inner-portions wherein the diameter of the first splined inner-portion is greater than the diameter of the second splined inner-portion. In operation, at least a part of the splined portion of the first member is resident within the first splined inner-portion of the seal, and at least a part of the splined portion of the second member is telescopically resident within the second splined inner-portion of the seal. The seal method comprises fitting the first splined inner-portion of the seal around at least a part of the splined portion of the first member, and fitting the second splined inner-portion of the seal around at least a part of the splined portion of the second member.

To that end, the boundary at an outer periphery of the boot between the injection molding section and the blow molding section is set on a bellows part side away from a recess for fixation of the small-diameter cylinder part. In particular, a shoulder portion of the recess for fixation on the bellows part side is provided with a cutout portion, in which to set the boundary between the injection and the blow molding sections.

    摘要: The disclosure generally provides an assembly comprising a hub/bearing unit comprising a housing and a hub comprising a flange having an inboard surface and a centrally located bore. The hub/bearing unit further provides a plurality of rolling elements between the housing and the hub that rotatingly support the hub within the housing. A constant velocity joint provides an inner joint member attached to an shaft, an outer joint member disposed about the inner joint member, a plurality of balls between the inner joint member and the outer joint member wherein the balls transmit rotational force between the inner joint member and the outer joint member, respectively. An attachment device has a threaded portion and a shoulder portion. The shoulder portion contacts a backing surface of the constant velocity joint to attach the constant velocity joint to the hub/bearing unit. The attachment device does not extend beyond a plane defined by the inboard surface of the flange when the attachment device is installed within the assembly.

    摘要: A flexible boot assembly for protectively covering a constant velocity joint includes a flexible boot having an end portion that is molded about a flange portion of a rigid can. The flexible boot is preferably formed from an elastomeric material and can be integrally molded to a metallic can by an insert molding or other similar process. The metallic can includes a hollow cylindrical flange portion for positioning the can with respect to the constant velocity joint. The metallic can also includes a face portion having a plurality of apertures formed therethrough for mounting the boot assembly to the constant velocity joint. The inner surface of the metallic can includes a bead of a sealing material or a gasket for sealingly engaging the boot assembly to the adjacent face of the constant velocity joint. In another embodiment, the entire boot assembly is formed by using elastomeric material. In alternative embodiments, the entire boot assembly is formed from an elastomeric material. The boot assembly may or may not include the hollow cylindrical flange portion for positioning it with respect to the constant velocity joint.
