Abstract:
A cashless automatic vendor system comprises a portable communication terminal which enables a user to dispense with troublesome operations and to execute the cashless operation of even an existing automatic vendor. An automatic vendor (1) issues a settlement request code for requesting the settlement of a selected commodity on the basis of user's operation. A center apparatus (3) processes settlement on the basis of the settlement request code received from the automatic vendor (1) via a cellular phone terminal (2), processes the settlement request code as predetermined to generated a sale permission code, and transmits it to the cellular phone terminal (2). The automatic vendor (1) reads the sale permission code displayed on the display section of the cellular phone terminal (2) and controls commodity sale on the basis of the sale permission code.
Abstract:
Information is provided to a point of sale system to assist a sales clerk in preventing a bank check having a fraudulent signature from being accepted at the point of sale. The check signature is scanned from the bank check and an account identifier is read from the bank check. A reference signature set associated with the account identifier is retrieved from the database. The check signature is compared against reference signatures in the reference signature set to verify the check signature and generate a signature confidence value based on how closely the check signature matches one or more of the reference signatures. The signature confidence value is tested against a predetermined value to accept or not accept the check signature. An accept check message is sent to the point of sale system if the act of testing verifies the check signature. The check signature is added to the reference signature set for the checking account identified by the check identifier if the check signature is verified. If the check signature is not verified, the reference signature set is sent to the point of sale system for use by the sales clerk in visual inspection of the check. An account tracking service is called if the reference signature set is not in the database. The account tracking service checks the account identifier against a list of accounts that have a history of one or more bad checks being issued.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and method allowing customers to conduct a transaction at a fuel dispenser and obtain cash back in association with the transaction at the dispenser or a common terminal in the dispenser forecourt. The system may include a cash dispenser at the fuel dispenser, fueling position, or the central terminal, or, alternatively, a delivery system configured to deliver cash from a central location to the customer at the dispenser, fueling position, or central terminal. During a transaction for purchasing fuel or other products associated with the service station, a customer is provided an opportunity to select an amount of cash to be dispensed or delivered in association with that transaction. Providing a customer the opportunity to receive cash back in association with a dispenser transaction will attract more customers to the station because of convenience as well as provide customers with more disposable cash to spend at the associated quick-serve restaurants and convenience store.
Abstract:
A system and method for recording the evidence of intent of a party to a transaction, archiving this speech recording, and notifying and making it available to interested parties. A party seeking an affirmation will send to the affirming party a communication outlining the terms of the affirmation to be made, and also a transaction identifier by which a system may identify the parties to the transaction. The affirming party communicates with the system. The affirming party communicates the transaction identifier, and subsequently recites a spoken affirmation which is recorded by the system. The system then stores the recording in association with a recording identifier which can be used later to retrieve the recording. Finally, the system communicates the recording identifier both to the affirming party and to the party requesting the affirmation. The requesting party is thus informed that the affirmation has been made.
Abstract:
A fuel dispensing system is provided wherein the fuel is provided only to authorized vehicles through verification of identification information, such as scanning a bar code disposed on the vehicle or fuel storage container. The system can be incorporated into a fixed site location or incorporated into a mobile fuel truck. The ID of the vehicle or storage container is verified with a database of valid IDs. The database can be located locally at the refueling site or remote from the refueling site and accessed via modem communication.
