Abstract:
A security device (1) is disclosed, which permits the controlled access of authorised personnel to vulnerable security regions. According to the invention, the security device (1) is provided with a bus system (3), connecting a central control device to several actuators (4), each of which is allocated to one of the security regions (2). Access authorisation is monitored and controlled by means of a personal identification device (6).
Abstract:
A vehicle remote start control system is for a vehicle including a vehicle engine, an electrical system, and a transponder reader. The transponder reader may enable the vehicle engine based upon wirelessly reading an authorized code from a transponder carried by a user and placed proximate the transponder reader. The system may include a remote start transmitter and a remote start controller at the vehicle. The remote start controller may include a transponder code bypass transmitter electrically connected to the vehicle electrical system for wirelessly transmitting the authorized code to the transponder reader responsive to the remote start transmitter to enable the vehicle engine.
Abstract:
A movable barrier operator (11) transmits status signals from time to time to reflect its own operational states. A corresponding wireless remote control apparatus (14) receives such status signals and used the informational content of such status signals to effect a variety of automatic and/or user-facilitated control strategies. In one embodiment, the wireless remote control apparatus can use the status signal to determine a distance (or at least an approximate distance) between the movable barrier operator and the wireless remote control apparatus. This distance information, in turn, can also be used to inform and enrich the control strategies and possibilities of the wireless remote control apparatus.
Abstract:
A handheld reader for testing the validity of a transponder in a mobile communications system, such as an electronic toll collection system. The handheld reader interrogates the transponder under test and receives a response signal. The response signal contains a data string having a sequential plurality of fields, including one field earlier in the sequence than another field. The handheld reader tests the later field for validity and, if invalid, tests the earlier field for validity. Based upon the results of the tests, the handheld reader outputs an indicator signal that provides an assessment of the degree of validity of the data string.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a locking doorknob which recognizes a fingerprint, in which the detecting sensor of a fingerprint is installed on the spot of the doorknob that a thumb or other fingers are placed naturally as the door is being opened. The locking doorknob is an electro-mechanical device which can be powered by a remote electrical power system, specifically by electromagnetic induction through the door latch and strike plate. During operation, as soon as a user grasps the doorknob, a fingerprint is measured and searched, and if the fingerprint corresponds to a fingerprint previously input, the door is unlocked and the doorknob can be turned to open the door. In this way, fingerprint recognition and opening of the door are performed at the same time.
Abstract:
A secure cargo transport system that prevents a mobile container from being compromised, lost, or contaminated during transit is disclosed. The cargo transport system contains both a lock and sensor(s) that lock and sense the environment surrounding the contents of cargo and/or of the cargo transport container. The lock and sensor(s) are in communication with a remote monitoring location where appropriate responses can be marshaled to breaches in cargo transport security or in the cargo environment.
Abstract:
A communication system that controls the disabling and enabling of a communication function in a communication portion of a portable device in accordance with whether the communication function of the portable device is disabled or enabled. The communication system includes a selection device for selecting a disablement mode, which disables automatic communication of the portable device with respect to a communication controller, and a communication mode, which enables automatic communication of the portable device. A determination unit recognizes which one of the disablement mode and the communication mode the portable device is in to determine whether to enable or disable automatic communication with respect to the portable device in accordance with the recognition. A recognition information providing device provides the determination unit with recognition information used to recognize which one of the disablement mode and the communication mode the portable device is in.
Abstract:
A vehicle function switch and a controller electrically are connected together. The controller has a passive mode of operation in which the controller is not responsive to activation of the vehicle function switch to transmit a vehicle function signal. The controller also has an active mode of operation in which the controller is responsive to activation of the vehicle function switch to transmit a vehicle function signal. A mode switch is associated with the controller and adapted to cause the controller to change from the passive mode of operation to the active mode of operation.
Abstract:
A security system is disclosed, including a token as well as a host system. The token consists of volatile random access memory for storing security data for use during a step of secure authentication, an interface for providing communication with a host system when coupled thereto, and a processor. The processor performs the steps of authenticating a host system and the token, providing secure information to the host system upon authentication therewith, and re-authenticating the host system and the token in response to receipt of the secure information after a reset of the token has occurred. Alternatively, the token contains an internal voltage source for providing a supply voltage to the security system for a predetermined amount of time, when an external voltage source providing a supply voltage to the security system is disrupted, a tamper detection device for detecting an absence of a ground connected to the token and for providing a tamper signal when a ground is detected as absent, and a volatile random access memory clear circuit for clearing the security data within the volatile random access memory in response to the tamper signal.
Abstract:
A simple, secure and cost effective method to program authorized transmitters into the memory of a controller, such as that in a garage door opener, which does not require a learn switch. An already-authorized transmitter is used to prime the receiver to add a new transmitter identification code to its list. The sequence is to press the button of any transmitter that is already recognized by the controller, within a short time window (e.g., 3 seconds) to press the button of the new transmitter that is to be added, and within another short time window (e.g., 3 seconds) press again the button of the transmitter used in the first step.
