    摘要: A connector for a flat cable having a hollow casing with a cavity therein. The cavity receives a leading end of the flat cable through a front opening in the casing. The cable has a plurality of flat terminals on both sides of the leading end. Complementary front and rear terminals are inserted into the cavity from front and rear openings in the casing. Each set of terminals contacts one side of the leading end of the cable. The leads from each set of terminals extend outwardly of the casing in opposite directions, thereby reducing the density of leads and facilitating assembly thereof.

    摘要: A zero insertion force electrical connector is provided for a flat cable. The connector includes a dielectric housing mounting a plurality of terminals. The housing has a front end with an opening for receiving an end of the flat cable in engagement with contact portions of the terminals. An actuator is pivotally mounted relative to the housing for floating movement between a first position allowing free insertion of the flat cable into the opening and a second position biasing the cable against the terminals. A cam surface on the actuator abuts a counter cam surface on the housing as the actuator rotates and translates about a moving pivot from its first position to its second position sandwiching the end of the flat cable between the contact portions of the terminals and the actuator.

    摘要: A versatile terminal members useable in any type of ribbon cable connectors has a generally elongated stem, contact and positioning prongs extending generally parallel to each other from a generally intermediate portion of the stem in one direction, and a pair of lead elements extending generally parallel to each other from opposite ends of the stem in a direction counter to the one direction. One of the lead elements is adapted to be trimmed off from the stem depending on the type of ribbon cable connector in which the very terminal member is to be mounted. A terminal array is also provided which comprises a series of the versatile terminal members which are connected together by means of a metal carrier strip at intervals of a predetermined pitch, but which can be separated from the metal carrier strip to provide the individual terminal members that can be subsequently trimmed to suit to a particular type of cable connectors.

In one embodiment, the rotating disk storage device includes a disk enclosure, an FPC supporting portion, and a flexible printed circuit board assembly provided with an FPC terminal area that extends along a front surface of the FPC supporting portion and further beyond an end portion of the FPC supporting portion. When the printed board is mounted on the disk enclosure, a connector terminal contacts and gives pressure to an FPC terminal formed in the FPC terminal area. This causes the FPC terminal area to flex in the direction of an arrow.

    摘要: A connector for connecting to a flexible substrate which includes reinforcement for the surrounding areas of the pivot-supporting holes which support an operation lever and provides feedback to an operator when the operation lever is locked to the housing of the connector. A slider is directed by guides while the operation lever turns. When the slider is at a backward position, an insertion opening can be accessed for inserting a flexible substrate. When the slider is at a forward position, a press plate of the slider presses either one of the flexible substrate which has been inserted into the opening and the contacts provided in the housing to the other one. An electrical connection is established between the flexible substrate and the contacts. The operation lever is parallel to the slider in the forward position, and locks provided on a side surface opposite to the side surface with the insertion opening are locked to turn locks on the operation lever. The guides are fixed to the housing and are formed by bending a metal plate into a U shape. The pivot-supporting holes are formed individually on the guides.

    摘要: In a connector for a small circuit board, contacting means is formed independently of elastic means that provides contact pressure on the small circuit board when the edge portion of the small circuit board is fitted to the connector. The contacting means comprises for example an insulator film and electrical contacts corresponding to terminals of the plate object. The insulator has first and second surfaces and the electrical contacts are formed on the first surface. The elastic means is for example arranged within a housing of the connector. Within the housing, the second surface of the insulator is fixed on the elastic means, so that the electrical contacts are also arranged on the elastic means via the insulator film. When the edge portion of the small circuit board is accommodated within the housing, the elastic means gives the contact pressure to the edge portion of the small circuit board so that the electrical contacts are connected with the terminals of the small circuit board.

The locking arrangement comprises a locking portion (125) formed on the insulator and an engaging projection (128) formed on the pressing member (105) to be engaged with the locking portion. The detecting arrangement (105d, 119) comprises a pair of locking arms (119) formed on the insulator and a detecting projection (105d) formed on the pressing member. When the connection member is partly inserted between the locking arms, the locking arms are pressed and deformed outwards to inhibit the rotation of the pressing member.
