Protection of the PMT chip against overload and permanent damage is guaranteed without negatively affecting its switching function in that a protective circuit is provided in the transistor housing which directly measures the temperature of the transistor barrier junction using a temperature measuring element, and when a predefined or predefinable limit barrier junction temperature is reached reduces the drain current and thus the power loss of the PMT chip, the temperature measuring element being integrated in the PMT chip or accommodated in the transistor housing together with the protective circuit as an additional chip.

    摘要: In a docking station for a PC, a PCI adapter, an IDE controller, and a PC card controller operate when a PCI clock is supplied from the PC, and stop when the supply of the PCI clock is stopped by the PC entering a sleep mode. A driving signal output circuit outputs an actuation signal to a cooling fan drive circuit when the PCI clock is supplied thereto, and outputs a stop signal to the cooling fan drive circuit when the supply of the PCI clock is stopped. The cooling fan drive circuit includes a temperature sensor for detecting the internal temperature of a power supply unit, and controls on/off of the cooling fan on the basis of the detected temperature by this temperature sensor and an output signal from the driving signal output circuit.

    摘要: The present invention is a phase loss protector for a three phase motor supplied by a three phase power source. A three phase motor has three main power legs, L1, L2 and L3, going in. Two of the three legs power the stepdown transformer that supplies a controller. The controller ensures power does not reach the three phase motor when L3 is not operating. If L3 loses power, a controller relay will not supply power to a power coil that supplies generally open contact points, shutting down power to the three phase motor. If L1 loses power, the transformer will not provide power for the controller to operate. If L2 loses power, the transformer will not provide power to the controller and the controller relay will not supply power to the power coil, again shutting down power to the three phase motor.

    摘要: An arrangement for overload protection of a switch to which a load circuit and a control circuit are connected, wherein: the control circuit includes at least one logic circuit, a gate drive connected between an output of the logic circuit and a control input of the switch, a comparator, and a temperature sensor. The comparator compares a voltage drop across the switch to a predetermined threshold value, and the temperature sensor is a discrete component relative to at least the switch and has an associated threshold-value recognition. The logic circuit is responsive to the output of the comparator and the temperature sensor to cause the gate driver to switch off the switch when at least one limit value for the voltage drop across the switch, or a limit value for the permissible switch temperature, is exceeded. Moreover, the temperature sensor has its temperature-measurement point on an external electrical connection of the switch, with this electrical connection simultaneously serving for the thermal coupling of the temperature sensor and the switch.

    摘要: An electrical protection device for protecting an operating circuit from overcurrent and having relay contacts in series between an electrical power supply and an electrical power load and having a relay coil in parallel across the electrical power supply in an on state. The protection device includes a single relay package having a frame, the relay coil, an armature mechanically actuated from a normally closed contact position to a normally open contact position when the coil is energized, a bimetallic wiper mounted to the armature, a wiper contact mounted to the bimetallic wiper and a normally open contact, a diode connected in series with the relay coil and the normally open contact to pass coil energizing current to the coil from the electrical power supply during the on state and to prevent backflow of coil energizing current to reach the electrical power load when power is first applied to the coil, a first coil lead connected to the relay coil and a second coil lead connected to an anode of the diode, a first contact lead connected to the wiper contact, and a second contact lead connected to the normally open contact. In the on state the relay coil is connected to the electrical power supply through the diode and causes the wiper contact to connect to the normally open contact to connect the supply to the load through the first contact lead and the second contact lead. In the off state the bimetallic wiper responds to an overcurrent in the power supply path by changing shape and moving the wiper contact out of connection with the normally open contact thereby disconnecting the load from the supply.

    摘要: A method and system for checking continuity of a motor 104, motor drive, motor relay 110, dc relay 108 and interconnections 122a-c thereof for a power steering system 204. The method and system of the invention produce minimal torque on a motor shaft 426 of the power steering system 204. The position of the motor shaft 426 is located using a Hall effect current sensor 114, a resolver and the like, depending on the type of motor. Thereafter, it is determined which switches 106a-f of an inverter circuitry 100 to switch to produce a minimal torque on the motor shaft 426. The inverter circuit 100 converts dc voltage from a power source 102 to ac voltage required by the motor 104. Thereafter, the switches 106a-f that produce the minimal torque on the motor shaft 426 are switched and current flow is checked to determine the continuity of the circuitry. To produce minimal torque on the motor shaft 426, the complementary pair of switches 106a-f to the first pair is then switched.
