    摘要: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for efficiently cutting clay columns. The apparatus employs at least two supporting conveyors with one positioned downstream from the other and spaced apart a predetermined distance defining a gap therebetween. Each conveyor is wide enough to handle any desired column length so that no changes thereof are necessary when the size of the cut length changes. The conveyors or the end rollers thereof adjacent the gap are arranged to move horizontally thereby causing the gap to move. The cutting mechanism moves vertically and is operated in a coordinated fashion with movement of the gap following the point of intersection of at least one cutting wire with the conveyor plane so that clay columns are conveyed and cut simultaneously. Material adhering to the cutting wire(s) is automatically cleaned therefrom during cutting.

    摘要: A self-contained, multi-blade package is constructed to be mounted in the blade head assembly of a slurry saw for cutting hard materials such as quartz, silicon, germanium, and the like. The blade package is pre-assembled with connecting rods extending through aligned holes of spacer plates and end caps which extend above and below the blades at either end of the blades. At least one end cap of each pair is drilled with a through hole or holes and counter bored to receive a nut threaded on the connecting rod which projects into the counter bore. The end caps have a thickness on the order of one-half their width dimension resulting in great dimensional stability. This prevents distortion of the blade pack when the nuts are tightened on the connecting rods ensuring parallelism and rigidity of the blade package. The end caps further eliminate the need for clamping blocks normally used in the blade head assembly of slurry saws thereby permitting more blades to be incorporated in the blade package.

    摘要: A machine for cutting slots into stone. An arbor frame having cutting cylinders rotatably mounted along its edge is pivotally mounted to a carriage movably mounted on a rail. A motor is mounted on the frame and is operable to rotate the cutting cylinders. A second motor and converter mechanism is mounted on the carriage and is operable to reciprocate the arbor with respect to the carriage. Water pipes and suction pipes are mounted to the frame to wash the cutting cylinders and remove the slush formed thereby. Rollers are also mounted to the frame for abutting the sides of the stone slot. One of the cutting cylinders is spring loaded being mountable to the bottom of the arbor.

    摘要: A precision scoring tool is described for cutting through the exposed surface of a photocell or similar structure so as to divide the photosensitive layer into electrically isolated sections. A very thin blade is reciprocated across the surface while being immersed in an abrasive slurry. This action results in an extremely narrow cut which will divide the surface into a pair of sections along a line having a high order of straightness. Means are provided to control the geometry and depth of the cut.
