    摘要: A packaging structure for at least one article includes a pair of generally rectangular support structures with front, side, rear, and interior walls. The walls divide the rectangular support structure into a plurality of triangular sections. The front and interior walls contain a least one opening configured to correspond with the configuration of the article to hold and secure the article in place. The packaging structure is created from a rectangular blank made of foldable material that has a plurality of spaced vertical fold lines, panels, and aligned openings each configured to correspond with the configuration of the article. The packaging structure is formed by folding the blank along the fold lines and securing the blank in the folded condition. The blanks are formed first within computer aided design software by determining the dimensions and profile of a packaging structure, forming openings for an article in a packaging structure, unfolding the packaging structure within the design software into a flat pattern to form a master blank, and using the master blank to create cutting dies for forming additional blanks.

The file includes comprises a two-dimensional representation of a three-dimensional structure having a plurality of facets having alternative design scenarios that can be selected based on conditions of the cutting and/or folding device that is used to create the package. An example of such a condition is a thickness of a substrate that is being processed by the device. The system creates the file by creating a set of cut and/or fold line definitions. At least one of the cut and/or fold line definitions will be a variable cut/fold line definition. For each identified variable cut/fold line definition, the system identifies one or more alternate parameters for the variable cut/fold line definition, a first cutting/folding scenario that will not use the alternate parameters, and a second cutting/folding scenario that will use the alternate parameters.

    摘要: Box blank-forming apparatus (60) is provided which includes a feeder assembly (62) and a scoring/slotting assembly (64) each provided with adjustment structure (62a, 64a) to facilitate makeready adjustment of the apparatus (60) between production runs. The feeder assembly (62) preferably includes a reciprocal pusher element (170) operable to successively engage sheets (30) to be formed into box blanks (36). The element (170) is supported by a pair of elongated, threaded, axially rotatable, fore and aft translatable positioning screws (146, 148), so that upon rotation of the screws (146, 148), a reference position of the pusher element (170) may be varied. Adjustment of the assembly (64) is accomplished by means of compensators (292, 294) which are respectively coupled to associated slotter wheel and scoring wheel shafts (288, 286). Operation of the slotter wheel shaft compensator (294) serves to adjust the circumferential positions of the fixed slotter knives (358), whereas operation of the scoring shaft compensator (292) varies the position of the adjustable knives (360) through the medium of transfer gears (384). Servo-sensors (438-442, 446-448 and 270) are used to continuously monitor the lateral and circumferential positions of the scoring/slotting stations (296-304) and a reference position of the pusher element (172), so that precise makeready adjustments can be accomplished.

    摘要: There is disclosed herein an apparatus for forming container blanks from cardboard or other paperboard-like substrates. The apparatus includes a press, platens, a coated plate member, and a die-and-knife assembly. The coating on the plate is impressible for accommodating irregularities in the machine, platen surface, or knife so as to permit the knife edges to substantially lie in a cutting plane. The coating is generally an organic coating which is liquid just above room temperature and solid at room temperature. The impressions are made in the coating and the coating is then hardened for use by polymerization such as by ultraviolet light.

    摘要: A container blank forming machine is disclosed which allows an operator to quickly form container blanks in accordance with operator selected container type and dimensions. The preferred machine includes a framework having a flat stock support bed, selectively activatable and shiftable cutting heads, a computer, and a touch screen monitor. In operation, the computer causes the monitor to display a selection of container types to which the operator responds with a selection and specific finished container dimension data. The operator then enters flat stock into the machine which automatically cuts and scores the flat stock to form a completed container blank in accordance with the container type selection and dimensions provided by the operator.
