    摘要: A slackless drawbar or coupler head rotary connection between adjacent cars of a train which is movable along a fixed trackway, is described as having a ball and socket swivel-type connection which allows the elongated shank of a drawbar or coupler head to swivel freely in any direction, contrary to existing devices which employ a cylindrical connector which rotates in a cylindrical recess, thereby allowing the shank to rotate about its longitudinal axis rather than the center of a ball-shaped connector. In the existing designs, angling is achieved by distorting the shape of the pin hole in the shank of the drawbar or coupler head. This is undesirable and causes greater wear of the shank. The swivel connection eliminates the need for such a distorted pin hole which can be cylindrical and only slightly larger, in diameter, than that of the pin.A plurality of tapered wedges are provided to exert pressure against a front follower to maintain it in compressive engagement with stops in the striker or housing and take up any slack which develops between these parts. A second wedging mechanism can be employed between the front follower and rear end of the shank to maintain pressure against the shank and eliminate any slack which develops between these components.

    摘要: A claw coupling for electric toy and model trains with prerelease has a claw, which can be hooked from the side into a rigid hook of the respective end supporting part, and which is spring-mounted and preclamped so that it can swivel in a horizontal plane into the coupling position and can be lifted upwardly by means of a coupling lever of a release track and which engages a pivot journal that projects downwardly. The pivot journal is mounted in a borehole acting against a vertical restoring force from its coupling position into a release position that is limited by a stop. The spring, which produces the restoring force that counteracts the swivelling motion, is in the form of a tongue adjacent to the claw, optionally with clearance, and is attached to a bearing part. A downwardly directed bearing leg, the length of which corresponds at least to the ejection height, is attached to the outerside of the claw, and the bearing leg is provided with an outwardly facing intercepting projection which, in the open position of the claw, underlies the tongue in such a manner that an accidental ejection due to vibrational shocks or the like is prevented. The upper side of the intercepting projection, facing the tongue, is formed as an inclined plane that slopes towards the outside.

    摘要: A system for engagement and disengagement of carts to form a train of multiple carts. Each cart has a spring-loaded hitch that is held in a storage position when the carts are disengaged. A lever coupled to the hitch is operated to position the hitch for insertion into a receiver pocket of the next cart. A leading edge of the hitch deflects a spring-loaded lockpin. An angled guide member positions the hitch vertically within the pocket so that the lockpin comes into alignment with an aperture in the hitch. When aligned, the lockpin snaps into place and engages the aperture to lock the carts together. The close tolerance of the hitch within the pocket prevents transverse articulation of adjacent carts. Structures within the hitch and the pocket allow slight rotation in a longitudinal articulation axis about the lockpin and torsional articulation of the hitch within the pocket.

    摘要: A friction-type draft gear assembly includes a housing having an open front end and a partially closed rear end with a first and second rear portions and a pair of ledge members disposed intermediate such first and second rear portions for enabling the draft gear assembly to fit into a draft gear pocket of a predetermined length. A first rear portion is adapted to receive a compressible cushioning element with a seating arrangement abutting one end thereof which extends longitudinally from the second portion of the closed rear end toward the open front portion. A removable bottom wall is attachable either to the first or second rear portions for enabling installation of the compressible cushioning element through the first end. The open front end is adapted to receive a friction cushioning means which has a spring release mechanism for continuously urging the friction cushioning means outwardly from the compressible cushioning element thereby releasing such friction cushioning means after compression of such draft gear assembly. The open front end is configured for direct attachment to a coupler with a coupler key.
