摘要： As an alternate to two separate video tape recorders are operated to perform dubbing or the like, the present invention provides a double video cassette tape recorder for dubbing, wherein one of two video tapes is inserted at an upper position and another tape at a lower position in the same or separate cassette by front loading, and the two tapes can be separately or simultaneously driven to record and play back using a common capstan and cylinder heads for each tape in the limited space of housing. The double video cassette tape recorder for dubbing according to the present invention does not take up space for installation, and the inside mechanism can be used commonly to conventional VCR to save cost.

摘要： A tape transport cartridge is presented having a pair of brakes for the drive belt, the brakes being positioned to increase the angle of separation of the drive belt from the magnetic tape. This increased angle of separation results in improved drive of the tape, and the dual brake arrangement also establishes a more nearly constant instantaneous velocity differential for the tape packs, resulting in a lower and more constant tape tension.

摘要： An integral tape path assembly (110) includes a head subassembly (112), a buffer/guide subassembly (114) and a spaced sensor/guide subassembly (116), all mounted to a common tape path plate (118). The buffer/guide subassembly includes a buffer arm (126) which pivots about an axis shared by a fixed guide (128). A Hall-effect position sensor (186) can be mechanically calibrated via an aperture (142) in a housing (132). The speed sensor/guide subassembly includes a roller (148) which serves to guide the tape on the take-up side of the tape drive system and to drive a shaft (152) holding a speed indicator (156) for a speed sensor (158). The speed sensor/guide subassembly includes a fixed-orientation washer (206) for urging the tape against an upper flange (208) of the roller. The washer is off-center sprung to counter distorting forces engendered by the tape as it engages the roller. Accordingly, a compact tape path assembly is provided requiring a reduced number of precision alignments and minimizing sources of tape distortion.

摘要： A plastic cassette, having reel hub spindles and tape guides which are accurately machined inserts, is used as a tape supply and take-up container for a reel periphery driven tape transport. The reel hub spindle and the tape guide bases are accurately machined reference surfaces, and the spindles and guides are flexibly captive in the cassette shell with their reference surfaces extending below the cassette shell. Upon insertion into the transport, the reel hub spindle and tape guide bases are forced into abutment with a reference surface of the transport, causing the cassette tape path to conform to the transport tape path, substantially independent of the orientation of the plastic cassette body relative to the transport.

摘要： A strip media tensioning system is set forth for imposing drag on a moving band such as a circulating endless belt for driving reel packs for delivery of magnetic tape therebetween. More particularly, an apparatus is set forth which includes a fixed shaft. A sleeve is journalled for rotation about the shaft, the endless belt engaging and rotating the sleeve. To create drag, a visco-elastic ring is positioned between the shaft and sleeve and is compressed against the sleeve creating drag by an eccentrically disposed roller device. The eccentricity of the roller device is adjustable for altering the drag on the circulating endless belt.

摘要： The present invention involves a method and apparatus to prolong the useful life of a drive tape used in a magnetic contact printer to advance master and copy tapes past a transcribing head to transcribe the signals from the master tape onto the copy tape. The present invention provides a method for using the entire length of the drive tape even though individual segments on different master tapes may be shorter than the length of the drive tape. In the method of the present invention the drive tape is rewound after each transcription only part of the way to the beginning of that transcription. The next transcription will then require the use of a part of the drive tape not used in the previous transcription. The apparatus of the present invention uses a digital logic circuit to carry out that method. The apparatus comprises a counter that senses the length of advance of the drive tape for each transcription and detectors that provide signals to terminate the rewindings of the drive tape at the proper points.
