    Abstract: A filter assembly has a housing defining an inlet and an outlet. A plurality of chemical filter elements are disposed in the housing and are arranged in a series with respect to fluid flow. A spacing region is between adjacent filter elements in the series. Also disclosed is an assembly having a housing and a first and second chemical filter element. The second chemical filter element is downstream of the first chemical filter element. Each chemical filter element has a sheet of chemical filter material having a first edge and a second edge. A first flow path is defined parallel to a surface of the first sheet extending from its first edge to its second edge. A second flow path is defined parallel to a surface of the second sheet extending from its first edge to its second edge.

    Abstract: An air filter cartridge includes a coiled media pack with inlet flutes and outlet flutes. The coiled media pack has first and second rounded ends with at least a first straight side and a second side. The coiled media pack has: (i) a length extending along a straight line from a center of the first rounded end to a center of the second rounded end; (ii) a first width between the first straight side and second side; the first width being perpendicular to the length; and (iii) a second width thereacross; the second width being perpendicular to the length. The first width is narrower than the second width.

    Abstract: An air filtration media pack is provided having a plurality of layers of single facer media. The layer of single facer media includes a fluted sheet, a facing sheet, and a plurality of flutes extending between the fluted sheet and the facing sheet and having a flute length extending from a first face of the filtration media pack to a second face of the filtration media pack. A first portion of the plurality of flutes are closed to unfiltered air flowing into the first portion of the plurality of flutes, and a second portion of the plurality of flutes are closed to unfiltered air from flowing out of the second portion of the plurality of flutes so that air passing into one of the first face and the second face of the media pack and out the other of the first face and the second face of the media pack passes through media to provide filtration of the air. The fluted sheet includes repeating internal peaks facing toward the facing sheet and repeating external peaks facing away from the facing sheet. In addition, the fluted sheet can include at least one ridge extending along at least 50% of the flute length between an internal peak and an adjacent external peak. Additional characterizations of an air filtration media pack, air filtration media, and methods of making and using are provided.

    Abstract: A filter material for use in fuel-water separation has a particle filtration layer and a coalescing layer downstream of, and coupled to, the particle filtration layer. The particle filtration layer is substantially constructed of binder fibers and media fibers. The coalescing layer has at least 70% glass fibers by weight. As another example, a filter material for liquid fuels has a particle filtration layer and a coalescing layer downstream of the particle filtration layer. The particle filtration layer has binder fibers and media fibers and is substantially free of meltblown materials. The ratio of air permeability of the particle filtration layer to air permeability of the coalescing layer ranges from about 3:1 to about 15:1.

    Abstract: A removable filter assembly for filtering a fluid having a particulate or a contaminant and configured to engage a filter housing having a center post. The removable filter assembly includes a filter element adapted to remove at least one of the particulate or contaminate from the fluid, wherein the filter element includes an interior wall defining a passage having a first end and a second end. A container arrangement includes a channel and an outer wall in contact with the filter element at the first end of the passage, wherein the outer wall defines an outer profile extending from the first end of the passage toward the second end of the passage. The channel defines an inner wall configured to provide a relatively fluid tight seal with the center post. The container arrangement is adapted to capture at least one of the particulate or contaminate from the fluid. The outer wall of the container arrangement can include a plurality of radially aligned ribs.

    Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to vehicle filter monitoring systems and methods. In an embodiment, a filter monitoring system is included having a filter sensor device configured to generate data reflecting a filter condition value of a filter and a geolocation circuit configured to determine a present geolocation of a vehicle. The system can also include a system control circuit configured to generate or receive local contaminant concentration values at the present geolocation, evaluate the filter sensor device data to determine at least one of the filter condition value and a change in the filter condition value, and generate at least one of a maintenance recommendation and a routing recommendation based on the local contaminant concentration values, time spent at the geolocation of the vehicle, duty cycle of the vehicle, the filter condition value, and a change in the filter condition value. Other embodiments are also included herein.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a unique method of making a fine fiber that is formed from a composition including an epoxy and a polymer component including a 4-vinyl pyridine-containing polymer. The present disclosure also provides a unique method of coating a fine fiber with a composition including an epoxy and a polymer component including a 4-vinyl pyridine-containing polymer. The present disclosure further provides fine fibers wherein the entirety of the fiber is formed from a composition including an epoxy and a polymer component including a 4-vinyl pyridine-containing polymer. Also provided are filter media and filter substrates including the fine fibers.
