Abstract: Techniques on on-device indexing of hosted content items are described. In one embodiment, for example, a method is performed at a portable electronic device. The method includes the device performing the operations of: detecting an indexing event within a content management application; determining a content item, hosted with a content management service, to which the indexing event pertains; determining if the indexing event indicates that an index entry for the content item should be added to an on-device index; determining if a proxy entry for the content item already exists in a database that is a read surrogate for the on-device index at least with respect to a content management application by which the content item may be accessed; and attempting to add the index entry to the on-device index, if the proxy entry does not exist in the database.

Abstract: A system and method for displaying an enhanced version history user interface for an online content management system. In one embodiment, a version history user interface includes version history entries that represent primary events and anchor events. In another embodiment, a preview version history user interface is displayed that allows a user to preview a version of a content item. In another embodiment, a restore action process allows a user to restore a previous version of a content item to be the new current version of the content item.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to techniques for supporting enhanced content-item searches in an online content-management system. These techniques generally operate by gathering information that is available in the online content-management system (such as how often each content item has been updated, how many users have accessed the content item, and how many identical copies of the content item are stored in the online content-management system) and using this information to identify relevant content items that are likely to be important to a user. This enables the online content-management system to perform searching operations that return relevant content items to the user.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for enabling server-based file sharing that supports recipient-location criteria. Specifically, users that desire to share files are able to include recipient-location criteria in the sharing criteria for the files that the users provide for sharing. Before sharing a file that is associated with recipient-location criteria, the file sharing server determines whether the current location of the recipient device satisfies the recipient-location criteria associated with the file. If the current location of the device does not satisfy the recipient-location criteria associated with the file, then the file is not shared with the given device even if all other sharing criteria for the file is satisfied. On the other hand, if the current location of the recipient device satisfies the recipient-location criteria associated with the file, and all other sharing criteria of the file are satisfied, then the file is shared with the given device.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for providing an embedded web view of a folder in a content management system on a web page. For example, a user can request from a content management system code for embedding a web view of a content item or group of content items (e.g., folder) into a web page. After the code is embedded into the webpage, the web page can present a web view of the content item or group of content items that is dynamically updated when the content item or group of content items is updated. Thus, the user is relieved of the burden of updating the web page with new links to reflect changes in content items stored in the online content management system.

Abstract: Message management services can include processing an email to identify relevant content from among all content in the email and converting the identified relevant content into a simple, easy-to-read format. For example, message management services can apply multiple parsing strategies to an email. Each strategy can attempt to parse the email to identify relevant content and to output results that include any identified relevant content and an associated confidence score. The results having the highest confidence score can be selected. The identified relevant content included in the selected results can be converted into a flat string with stylings and links for displaying relevant content of the email in a simple, easy-to-read format.

Abstract: In a synchronization system, the present invention provides an improved user interface through which a user can view and manage settings associated with the user's account in the synchronization system. In the preferred embodiment, a column is displayed for each electronic device associated with the user's account in the synchronization system. In each column is a visual representation of items (e.g., folders) that are (1) backed up, remotely accessible and/or synchronized in the synchronization system and (2) located on the electronic device associated with such column. For each item that is synchronized across multiple devices, all the visual representations of such item in the columns are aligned across a single row in the interface. In the preferred embodiment, there is an arrow, or other visual indicator, between the visual representations of such items to indicate that the items are synchronized.
