    Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for generating and reporting a reference power headroom report (PHR) for New Radio (NR). A user equipment (UE) decides to report a reference power headroom (PH) for at least one carrier frequency in a transmission time interval (TTI). The UE determines at least one of an index (j) of a target received power of a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) to be transmitted in the TTI and a path loss scaling factor, an index (qd) of a reference signal used for measuring path loss for the carrier frequency, or an index (l) of a power control process used for the carrier frequency. The UE then calculates the reference PH based on one or more of the determined at least one index, and reports, in the TTI, a PHR including the reference PH for the carrier frequency.

    Abstract: This disclosure describes methods, devices, and systems for techniques related to random access procedures, such as a two-step random access procedure. Generally, the described techniques support physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) occasion (PO) aggregation in random access procedures, including aggregation configurations and communication schemes that support enhanced data transmissions, such as small data transmissions, in random access procedures. In some examples, the described techniques may include aggregating POs in a time domain, or a frequency domain, or both. A device, such as a user equipment (UE) may aggregate, in one or more of a time domain or a frequency domain, multiple POs of a set of POs, and transmit, to a device such as a base station, a random access payload of a random access message on a PUSCH using time and frequency resources of the aggregated multiple POs.

    Abstract: The present application relates to slot format indicator signaling in wireless communication systems. For example, a network entity may configure a slot format to include one or more symbol partitions and a transmission assignment for each of the one or more symbol partitions, and communicate with to at least one UE according to the configured slot format. In another example, a UE may configure at least one slot format according to at least one of a semi-static configuration via a broadcast or unicast transmission, or a dynamic configuration via a group common physical downlink control channel (GC-PDCCH), and communicate with the network entity according to the slot format.

    Abstract: Wireless communication devices are adapted to facilitate multiple synchronization channels within a single carrier. In some examples, an apparatus for wireless communication may transmit a first synchronization channel at a first frequency in a carrier bandwidth, and at least one additional synchronization channel at a different respective frequency in the carrier bandwidth. In some examples, an apparatus for wireless communication may scan a carrier bandwidth for one of a plurality of synchronization channels conveyed at different respective frequencies in the carrier bandwidth, and discover a synchronization channel from among the plurality of synchronization channels. The apparatus may further receive information conveyed over the discovered synchronization channel and utilize the information to access the carrier. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

    Abstract: A modified subframe structure is defined for a subset of a plurality of subframes. The modified subframe structure includes a first portion with one or more blank symbols over which a network node can measure monitor to determine whether the subframe is used as a downlink (or uplink) subframe by a neighboring network node. The modified subframe structure can also include a second portion of symbols for communicating control information or data in the subframe, which can be based on determining whether the subframe is used as a downlink (or uplink) subframe by the neighboring network node. This can lessen the impact of possible interference caused by the network nodes dynamically switching time division duplexing (TDD) subframe configurations by enabling network nodes to determine when a neighboring node is transmitting in a subframe, and accordingly avoiding transmitting in the subframe.
