    Abstract: A vibratory sauna having a cover rotatably connected to a lower housing that supports an elongate member adapted to support the torso of a person using the sauna. The cover forms a compartment that passes hot air over the torso by way of a blower mounted in a longitudinal air duct that is positioned in a chamber formed by the lower housing and the elongate member. Hot air coils are in the duct. The elongate member is resiliently supported by the lower housing so that a vibratory device causes the elongate member to move at a predetermined tempo. A head support extends longitudinally from the lower housing. One or more systems, such as a face fan, air purifier, radio and/or cassette player with stereo speakers, amy also be provided, if desired, and controls for all such systems may be suitably disposed on the inside of the cover for access during use of the vibratory sauna. The vibratory sauna may include a water bed positioned on the elongate member with a pulsating mechanism creating rhythmical pulsations in the liquid.

    Abstract: The applicator comprises a portable hand-held blower including a fan, a motor and heating wires to provide a stream of heated air out of an exhaust opening. A porous support element may cover the exhaust opening. A fabric material can be arranged to be draped about the motor housing in hooded fashion. Another fabric is arranged about the porous support element to provide a cushioned surface for engaging a body portion. This latter fabric material is impregnated with a medicant so that the heated air from the blower opens up the pores of the skin of a portion of the human body engaged by the fabric. The medicant is then easily absorbed thereby bringing relief to victims of arthritis and other aches and pains. The hood keeps the hot air generated by the blower in proximity to the body portion.

    Abstract: Circulation of blood to a patient's leg and return of blood from the leg to the heart are enhanced by supplying intermittent external pressure pulses to the leg, timed so that the pressure pulse follows close upon the arrival of the arterial pulse at the upper end of the leg, and reinforces the action of the arterial pulse in forcing blood into the leg. Between the external pressure pulses, the external pressure is relieved or diminished so that the succeeding arterial pulse may enter the leg without undue obstruction resulting from external pressure. The external pressure pulse is applied by forcing compressed gas into an inflatable enclosure surrounding the leg, and air may be introduced between the inflatable enclosure and the leg to prevent overheating of the leg. Means for admitting compressed gas to the enclosure are provided which are normally in the state such that the leg is not compressed, and which operate to compress the leg only when actuated by a signal generated from the patient's heartbeat. Adjustable means, e.g. movable walls, may be provided within the rigid enclosure to provide for each patient the optimum amount of free space into which the inflatable enclosure can expand, in spite of variations in the size of the leg from patient to patient.
