Abstract:
A vacuum cleaner is provided having improved pressure loss characteristics. A fluid supply conduit in flow communication with an inlet to a cyclone is integrally formed as part of a cyclone bin. The present invention may be adapted for use with cyclonic separation devices of all types, including single- and multi-stage cyclonic separators.
Abstract:
An anti-reentrainment device is provided for use with a cyclone separator. The anti-reentrainment device has a plurality of vane upwardly extending members positioned in the bottom of a cyclone chamber and extending radially inwardly across the bottom. The vanes separate the bottom of the cyclone from the cyclonic fluid flow portion, thereby creating a reduced flow region above deposited particles settling on the bottom of the cyclone. The device impedes the cyclonic flow from reentraining the deposited particles.
Abstract:
A cyclonic separation device is provided having improved pressure loss characteristics. A fluid supply conduit in flow communication with an inlet to a cyclone is located and configured to extend longitudinally through a central portion of the cyclone, whereby the sharp bending of the conduit may be reduced, thereby reducing pressure losses in the device, without unduly interfering with the cyclonic flow within the cyclone. The present invention may be adapted for use with cyclonic separation devices of all types, including single- and multi-stage cyclonic separators. The cyclonic separation device may be incorporated in a vacuum cleaner such as an upright vacuum cleaner. A three dimensional conduit which is optionally used with a cyclonic separator is provided.
Abstract:
An apparatus for filtering a dirty air stream in a vacuum cleaner to obtain a clean air stream includes subjecting the dirty air stream to a first cyclonic separation stage to obtain a partially cleaned air stream and subjecting the partially cleaned air stream to an electronic filtration stage and optionally a second cyclonic separation stage to obtain the clean air stream. The electronic filtration stage is optionally removable with a cyclonic cleaning stage from the vacuum cleaner. The electronic filtration stage is optionally an electrostatic precipitator which utilizes air flow through the vacuum cleaner to generate the voltage used by the electrostatic precipitator.
Abstract:
An apparatus comprising a longitudinally extending housing having a fluid inlet port and a fluid outlet port; a plurality of spaced apart members rotatably mounted in the housing to transmit motive force between fluid introduced through the fluid inlet port and the spaced apart members, the spaced apart members having an upstream end and a downstream end; and, at least one fan member positioned in series with the spaced apart members.
Abstract:
A heat engine is constructed from sheet metal and the like. The heat engine has an outer container and inner container which contains a displacer and a power piston. A plurality of positioning members are provided to dimensionally stabilize the inner and outer containers. By providing positioning members that extend between the inner and the outer containers, a sandwiched construction is obtained which allows the inner and outer containers to reinforce each other thus permitting the use of thin walled containers and improving the thermal efficiency of the heat engine and decreasing the weight of the heat engine.
Abstract:
A vacuum cleaner head having a casing having a dirty air inlet, a housing mounted above the dirty air inlet and moveable with respect to the dirty air inlet and a brush roatably mounted within the housing. The brush is moveable with the housing for improving the air flow of the dirty air around the brush into the vacuum cleaner head.
Abstract:
A water dispenser has an apparatus for removing water from the air and an apparatus for treating the water to provide a consumer with potable water.
Abstract:
An apparatus for providing cooling has a heat engine in which the cycle profile of at least one of the displacer and the piston is variable for to provide efficient cooling at various temperature differences.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for operating a pressure swing adsorption process is disclosed that may utilize only a single adsorption stage yet still produce a continuous stream of a concentrated fluid. A portion of the enriched fluid produced during the adsorption cycle in an adsorption chamber is used to purge the adsorption chamber.
