    摘要: A cyclonic separation device is provided having improved pressure loss characteristics. A fluid supply conduit in flow communication with an inlet to a cyclone is located and configured to extend longitudinally through a central portion of the cyclone, whereby the sharp bending of the conduit may be reduced, thereby reducing pressure losses in the device, without unduly interfering with the cyclonic flow within the cyclone. The present invention may be adapted for use with cyclonic separation devices of all types, including single- and multi-stage cyclonic separators. The cyclonic separation device may be incorporated in a vacuum cleaner such as an upright vacuum cleaner. A three dimensional conduit which is optionally used with a cyclonic separator is provided.

    摘要: A separator for substantially resolving at least one component of a process stream, such as from the exhaust of an internal combustion engine. The separator includes a body defining a chamber therein. A nozzle housing is located proximate the chamber. An exhaust inlet is in communication with the nozzle housing and the chamber. A nozzle assembly is positioned in the nozzle housing and includes a nozzle moveable within and relative to the nozzle housing. The nozzle includes at least one passage formed therethrough such that a process stream entering the exhaust inlet connection passes through the passage formed in the nozzle, which imparts a substantially rotational flow to the process stream as it enters the chamber. A positioning member is configured to position the nozzle relative to the nozzle housing in response to changes in process stream pressure to adjust flowrate of said process stream entering into the chamber.

    摘要: An attachment for the air intake of a gas turbine engine includes a plurality of particle separators. The particle separators cooperate to define an attachment axis and are spaced circumferentially about the attachment axis. Each particle separator includes a housing defining a separator axis, a first flow passage having at least a portion that is annular, an annular opening, and an annular second flow passage. The first and second flow passages are configured so that inertia of particles entrained in a stream of air flowing through the annular portion of the first flow passage tends to cause the particles to flow from the annular portion through the opening into the second flow passage to allow the stream of air to enter the engine flow passage free of the particles removed therefrom. The separator axes are parallel to and spaced apart from the attachment axis.

    摘要: Smoke inlet trunking for a cyclone separator has two lateral faces referred to as an extrados face and an intrados face, the latter terminating at a nose of the cyclone, a ceiling face and a floor face. The intrados face, which connects a point at the start of the trunking to a point at the nose of the cyclone, has a profile such that it includes at least two separate tangents such that one tangent intersects the extrados face at a point upstream of the foot of a perpendicular to the extrados face dropped from the nose of the cyclone. The intrados face begins at the point at the start of the trunking with a first part having a rectilinear profile followed by a second part having a curvilinear profile with a point of inflexion or a second rectilinear part connected to the nose of the cyclone and the point at the start of the trunking is located at an outlet from the furnace.

    摘要: Apparatus is described for separating particulate material from an airstream established by suction. The apparatus comprises a primary separation chamber (12) in which particles are separated from the airstream therein by centrifugal force, a main particle collecting region (14) into which the particles separated by the primary separation can fall under gravity, and a secondary separation chamber (90) downstream of the primary chamber (12), to which air and particles not separated in the first chamber, pass. An air outlet in the secondary chamber allows air substantially free of particles to exit. An intermediate particle collecting region (22) is associated with the secondary chamber, in which particles collect after separation by centrifugal force from the air flowing through the secondary chamber (90). A valve (41) is provided between the intermediate particle collecting (22) region and a second particle collecting region (14), which is closed while air flows through the apparatus but which is opened when airflow ceases, to allow particles in the intermediate region (22) to pass into the second region (14).

    摘要: A compact vortex-stream gas-liquid separator, and a gas-liquid separation system employing it, offers high gas-liquid separation performance with minimal pressure loss. A substantially cylindrical casing (10) is arranged with its axis lying horizontally. The casing has a fluid passage (1) formed therein, has a fluid inlet (2) provided at one end, and has a gas outlet (3) and a liquid outlet (4) provided at the other end so as to constitute as a whole a vortex-stream gas-liquid separator (9). The fluid inlet is arranged along a line tangential to the casing so that the gas-liquid two-phase fluid passes through the fluid passage in the form of a vortex stream. The gas outlet is arranged so as to be coaxial with the casing. This vortex-stream gas-liquid separator and the gas-liquid separation system (30) employing it are used in a clothes dryer or air conditioner to remove water droplets from air.
