Abstract:
An apparatus is comprised of a light source radiating into a peripheral forward solid angle and a center forward solid angle. A reflector is positioned to reflect light from the light source from the peripheral forward solid angle into a longitudinal beam about an optical axis of the reflector. A lens is disposed longitudinally forward of the light source for focusing light into a predetermined beam pattern from the center forward solid angle into a skewed beam in a skewed direction with respect to the optical axis of the reflector to project a composite beam of light comprised of the light radiated in the skewed beam and the longitudinal beam.
Abstract:
The wall mountable lighting fixture does not require tools to attach and remove the fixture from a wall surface. The wall mountable lighting fixture includes an attachment mechanism that can be manipulated from a first position to a second position by the push of a button. The button is pressed and the dimension of the attachment mechanism is increased and placed about the edges of a DIN rail attached to the wall. When the button is released, a biasing member returns the attachment mechanism to the first position, thereby reducing the dimension of the attachment mechanism. Once reduced, the dimension is smaller than the critical dimension of the DIN rail and either grips or rests within the DIN rail, thereby holding the fixture to the wall surface. Reversing the steps allows for the removal of the fixture from the wall for repair or replacement.
Abstract:
An electrical connector includes a sleeve defining an axis and a contact assembly inserted in the sleeve, the contact assembly including pieces that move axially relative to one another during a fault close operation. An interface between the sleeve and the contact assembly is configured to permit replacement of the contact assembly without replacing the sleeve.
Abstract:
A communicating faulted circuit indicator (“FCI”) apparatus, as well as methods for using the apparatus. A sensor is configured to collect data relating to a state of an electrical conductor. A controller is logically coupled to the sensor and configured to receive the data collected by the sensor and to determine whether to communicate the collected data to a location remote from the FCI. A communications facility is logically coupled to the controller and configured to communicate the data to the remote location in response to the controller's determination to communicate the data to the remote location. The communications facility can include a cellular communications device. The remote location can comprise a cellular communications device. The remote location also can be a computer system configured to receive communications from the FCI.
Abstract:
A lighting fixture having a socket housing and a removable lamp housing. The socket housing includes a socket for receiving a lamp and for connecting the lamp to a power supply. The lamp housing has a first end for emitting light from the lamp and a second end that is removably coupled to the socket housing. The lamp housing least partially encloses the lamp when connected to the socket housing. The second end of the lamp housing is wider than the lamp, so as to allow the lamp housing to be removed from the socket housing without first removing the lamp from the socket. Removing the lamp housing from said socket housing substantially exposes the socket to view and allows for installation of a lamp into the socket without having to re-position or re-aim the track light fixture.
Abstract:
A housing encapsulating first and second terminals of a surge arrester disconnector becomes structurally weakened before activation of a disconnect device in the disconnector when the disconnector is exposed to heat, thereby preventing the disconnector from producing a projectile with a force sufficient to classify the disconnector as a hazardous material under Department of Transportation regulations.
Abstract:
A fuse test and ground device includes an insulated housing with a bore that extends from the front of the housing towards the rear of the housing. An electrical contact is disposed partially within the bore. A current interrupter, such as a fuse, is electrically connected between the contact and a testing ground lead. An eye, having it's surface insulated by the housing, can be attached to the housing and provide a connection point for manipulation of the device. A grounding bore extends from a second aperture into the housing and provides an electrical connection to the contact. A grounding plug can be connected to ground on one end and inserted into the grounding bore to create a permanent ground for the device. An annunciator is connected to the current interrupter such that the annunciator provides an indication when a current flows through the current interrupter.
Abstract:
A section of wireway having an elongate channel-shaped body and cover for the body. The cover has a releasable hinge connection with the body for swinging between open and closed positions. In one embodiment, the hinge connection comprising at least two T-shaped slots in a side wall of the body at locations spaced along the length of the body and at least two T-shaped hinge members on the cover receivable in said slots for hinging the cover to the body.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method according to which a seal is provided between an enclosure and an enclosure cover. The enclosure cover includes an enclosure engagement surface for coupling to enclosure. The apparatus includes a gasket positioned in a gasket channel located on the enclosure engagement surface to provide a seal between the enclosure and the enclosure cover. The enclosure engagement surface also includes a flame path surface adjacent the gasket channel.
