    Abstract: A method and system for controlling connectivity of a user equipment device (UE), the UE being dual-connectivity capable. The UE detects that the UE has ping-ponged at a threshold high rate between standalone connectivity and dual connectivity. And responsive to at least detecting that the UE has ping-ponged at the threshold high rate between standalone connectivity and dual connectivity, the UE transmits, to an access node serving the UE, a report including an indication that the UE is not dual-connectivity capable, even though the UE is dual-connectivity capable. The access node could then use the indication in the report as a basis to forgo configuring of dual connectivity for the UE, which could thereby help discontinue the ping-ponging.

    Abstract: When a first coverage area will use a first TDD configuration and a second coverage area will use a second TDD configuration that is different than the first TDD configuration, a guard band operatively separating the first and second coverage areas (in frequency and/or in space) will be configured with an enhanced TDD configuration that is specially structured to be consistent with both the first and second TDD configurations. Namely, the enhanced TDD configuration could be downlink just when both the first and second TDD configurations are downlink and uplink just when both the first and second TDD configurations are uplink, and can unused at other times.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a mechanism to help control which of multiple carriers a base station will serve a UE on—perhaps which carrier should be the UE's primary component carrier for carrier-aggregation service. The disclosed mechanism can apply in a scenario where a base station is configured to provide service on multiple carriers including at least a first carrier and a second carrier, and when the base station is serving one or more relays respectively on each carrier. In that scenario, the selection of a carrier on which the base station should serve a UE could be made based at least on a consideration of how many UEs are served in total by the one or more relays that the base station serves respectively on each carrier, such as by selecting the carrier having the fewest such relay-served UEs.

    Abstract: A mechanism for controlling configuration of dual connectivity for a UE that has a first connection with a first access node. The first access node could make a determination whether a beamwidth of a second access node with which the UE does not yet have a connection is at least as wide as a predefined threshold angle. If not, then the first access node could apply blind addition, in which the first access node works to add for the UE the second connection without requiring as a condition precedent the UE reporting being in threshold strong coverage of the second access node. Whereas, if so, then the first access node could instead apply threshold-based addition, in which the first access node works to add for the UE the second connection if and when the UE reports being in threshold strong coverage of the second access node.

    Abstract: A method for configuring a base station to group UEs for MU-MIMO service, where the base station provides wireless communication service in a cell having a geometric size. In an example implementation, the method includes determining, based on the geometric size of the cell, a maximum quantity of UEs that the base station should allow per MU-MIMO group, and configuring the base station to apply the determined maximum quantity when grouping UEs for MU-MIMO service. For instance, the maximum quantity of UEs per MU-MIMO group could be set based on the radius of the cell.

    Abstract: A mechanism to help avoid operational failures with respect to mobile network operator (MNO) service profiles on embedded universal integrated circuit cards (eUICCs). A profile management system or other entity detects operational failures associated with MNO service profiles and responsively provides new MNO service profiles selected to help avoid recurrence of the operational failures. For instance, the profile management system could detect an operational failure that occurred on a given mobile device and could responsively provide a replacement MNO service profile for installation on that device. Further, the profile management system could detect a trend where such failures occur with respect to MNO service profiles from a first source (e.g., first vendor) on eUICCs from a second source (e.g., a second vendor) and could responsively take action to help avoid such a combination of MNO service profile and eUICC, so as to help avoid recurrence of the operational failures.
