Abstract: Devices and methods of simultaneous data reception and measurement are generally described. A UE transmits to an eNB antenna capacity and receives a Beamformed Reference Signal (BRS) configuration in response. Beamformed signals from the eNB include a BRS subframe in accordance with the BRS configuration. The BRS subframe has a BRS whose structure depends on the UE antenna capacity. If the UE has a single antenna panels, neither an EPDCCH nor a PDSCH for the UE is in the BRS frame. If the UE has a single antenna panels and multiple ports or multiple antenna panels, the BRS may contain an EPDCCH or PDSCH for the UE as different ports or antenna panels may be assigned different functionality. The UE measures BRS Received Power (BRS-RP) of the BRS, transmits a BRS report based on the BRS-RP and selects an optimal beam based on BRS-RPs from BRSs of the beams.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for a user equipment (UE) device that includes one or more processors configured to determine, based on a DL signal in an LTE-TDD radio frame, that an eNB has assessed, based on a Cat-2 listen before talk (LBT) procedure, that a radio frame is valid; and in response to determining that the radio frame is valid, transmitting a UL burst within a predetermined period of time after a DL burst in the radio frame.

Abstract: Technology for a Next Generation NodeB (gNB) operable to communicate over an anchor channel for Unlicensed Internet of Things (U-IoT) is disclosed. The control information can be transmitted on an anchor channel having a set frequency for U-IoT in an adaptive frequency hopping system. The control information can include: a primary synchronization signal (PSS), a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) transmission, and a system information block for MulteFire bandwidth reduced (SIB-MF-BR).

Abstract: Devices for and methods of synchronous beam refinement using a beam refinement reference signal (BRRS) are generally described. In one example embodiment, a UE receives BRRS information indicating switching of a Tx beam. The UE then uses this information to switch an associated Rx beam. In some embodiments, timing information is used to match the switching times. In some embodiments. DCI and CSI-RS operations are used to determine switching for the synchronous beam refinement.

Abstract: A network device (e.g., a user equipment (UE), or a new radio NB (gNB)) can process or generate a configuration of a physical random access channel (PRACH) over physical resource blocks (PRBs) that are interlaced in an unlicensed band in an NR unlicensed (NR-U) communication. The PRBs in the PRACH can be based on an occupied channel bandwidth (OCB) of the unlicensed band in the NR-U communication. A random access channel transmission in the PRACH can then be generated by interlacing the PRBs defining the PRACH.

Abstract: Embodiments of a user equipment (UE) and method for resource allocation and device-to-device (D2D) discovery hopping are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the UE may receive signaling from an enhanced node B (eNB) indicating discovery resources to transmit discovery signals on within an LTE operation zone. The discovery resources may include a discovery zone which may comprise a plurality of physical resource blocks (PRBs) and a plurality of subframes. The UE may transmit a discovery signal for receipt by one or more other UEs for D2D discovery within some of the PRBs of the discovery zone. The PRBs for the transmission of the discovery signal may be determined in accordance with a hopping mode to provide increased frequency diversity within a bandwidth of the discovery zone. The hopping mode may comprise intra-subframe hopping, inter-subframe hopping or joint intra/inter-subframe hopping.

Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE), operable for an uplink partial subframe transmission on an unlicensed carrier is disclosed. The UE can select one or more uplink (UL) partial subframe configurations based on one or more prospective lengths of a listen before talk (LBT) period, wherein each prospective length of the LBT period provides a prospective starting time. The UE can encode data for each of the one or more UL partial subframe configurations to form one or more UL partial subframe configuration encodings. The UE can identify an actual LBT period. The UE can select one of the one or more UL partial subframe configuration encodings for UL transmission of the data on the unlicensed carrier based on the actual LBT period and a corresponding prospective starting time.

The apparatus can comprise one or more processors configured to: decode a special subframe from a data segment carried on an nframe that is transmitted in a data channel; identify a downlink pilot time slot (DwPTS) and a guard period (GP) from the special subframe; and switch from receiving in the data channel to transmitting in the data channel during a duration of the special subframe.
