Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses are presented that facilitate the provision of reduced pressure to a tissue site by using a delivery-and-fluid-storage bridge, which separates liquids and gases and provides a flow path for reduced pressure. In one instance, a delivery-and-fluid-storage bridge includes a delivery manifold for delivering reduced pressure to a treatment manifold at the tissue site and an absorbent layer proximate the delivery manifold adapted to receive and absorb liquids. The delivery manifold and the absorbent layer are encapsulated in an encapsulating pouch. A first aperture is formed proximate a first longitudinal end of the delivery-and-fluid-storage bridge for fluidly communicating reduced pressure to the delivery manifold from a reduced-pressure source, and a second aperture is formed on a patient-facing side of the delivery-and-fluid-storage bridge. Reduced pressure is transferred to the tissue site via the second aperture. Other systems, apparatuses, and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: A dressing for treating a tissue site may include a base layer, a sealing member, a first and a second wicking layer, and an absorbent layer. The base layer may have a plurality of apertures and may be adapted to cover the tissue site. The sealing member and the base layer may define an enclosure. The first and the second wicking layer may each be disposed in the enclosure with the absorbent layer positioned between the first and the second wicking layer. A conduit comprised of an absorbent material that is vapor permeable and liquid impermeable may be in fluid communication with the dressing for providing reduced pressure to the dressing. Other dressings, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for providing feedback for reduced-pressure treatment of a tissue site are described. A regulator may include a supply chamber fluidly coupled to the dressing, a control chamber fluidly coupled to the dressing, a charging chamber fluidly coupled to the supply chamber through a port, and a regulator valve operable to control fluid communication through the port based on a pressure differential between the control chamber and a therapy pressure. The feedback system may include one or more mechanical feedback interfaces fluidly coupled to the regulator to provide a signal of at least one of an application of reduced-pressure therapy, a leak condition, a blockage condition, and a canister full condition.

Abstract: A bodily fluid collection system includes a reduced pressure treatment unit for providing reduced pressure to a fluid collection system through a canister having a container with an inlet adapted to be fluidly coupled to the fluid collection system, an outlet adapted to be connected to a source of reduced pressure, and an absorptive lamination disposed within the container. The absorptive lamination may be formed from a plurality of absorptive layers and wicking layers interleaved between the absorptive layers that collectively manifold bodily fluids from a tissue site into and throughout the absorptive lamination to trap and collect the bodily fluids. The container expands as the absorptive lamination swells with the bodily fluid being collected.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and dressings are presented that involve using a RFID device in a dressing to provide pressure data or other data to a remote base unit. The dressing is an interactive dressing. The reduced pressure in the dressing may be monitored and used to control delivery of reduced pressure. In one instance, the pressure data at each dressing allows a plurality of tissue sites to be monitored and used with as single remote base unit. In another instance, devices and methods for assuring a proper pairing of reduced-pressure dressings and remote base units are also presented. Other systems, methods, and dressings are presented.

Abstract: A system is illustratively described herein that generally comprises a vacuum chamber, an ambient pressure chamber, a valve configured for unidirectional flow from the vacuum chamber to the ambient pressure chamber during a charging stroke, and a liquid filter configured to retain liquid in the pump. In some embodiments, the liquid filter is configured to retain liquid in the vacuum chamber during the charging stroke. In other embodiments, it may be configured to retain liquid in the ambient pressure chamber during an operating stroke. In more particular embodiments, a piston may be disposed between the vacuum chamber and the ambient pressure chamber, a passage may fluidly couple the vacuum chamber and the ambient pressure chamber, and the valve can be configured to control fluid flow through the passage. Additionally, a lumen may couple the vacuum chamber to a dressing to deliver negative pressure to the dressing in some illustrative embodiments.
